Many people have speculated on how awakening will effect Luffy, so i wanted to give my thoughts. Originally i thought awakening could effect Luffy by allowing him to manipulate the surroundings, however now i think otherwise. I realized that it would make absolutely no sense for all paramecia to have to same awakenings and that they would rather have different awakenings based on what each paramecia did. Therefore i believe that Luffy’s awakening will effect his own body, but exactly how will it do this?? Well lets take a look at Luffy’s other powers

I believe that Oda has been basing Luffy’s powers on rokushiki

• G2 emulates soru by making Luffy faster
• G3 emulates tekkai by making Luffy harder
• G4 emulates geppo by allowing Luffy to bounce off the air

So what about awakening? Well awakening isn’t a gear so i don’t think it will be rokushiki based, however i do believe it will be based on another marine technique; that technique being life return.

• awakening will emulate life return by giving Luffy full control over his body and rubber

This means luffy will be able to manipulate qualities of rubber, such as:

• tear resistance
• elasticity
• stretchiness
• electric resistance
• density

So what will this look like?

Here’s what i think Luffy’s awakened form would look like


With his awakening, i think Luffy’s muscles would decompress and become less dense; this would basically make him look more muscular. Because his muscles are more expanded and less compressed, they would be able to stretch more and have more room to stretch; this would basically increase the power of Luffy’s punches. Furthermore he would be able to use more power with his muscles; normally humans cannot use all 100% of their own muscle, however if luffy gains better control of his body via awakening, he will be able to use all 100% of his muscle fibers. Furthermore by using the power of rubber, all of his muscle contractions would happen way faster; due to his muscles being rubber, they would not tear like normal muscles would, however he would need more energy to use his muscles.

Being as chimpanzee’s can naturally use all 100% of their muscle, imo it’s likely Luffy will do the same via awakening as his name is MONKEY D Luffy.

So this is basically what Luffy will gain from using all 100% of his muscles and his awakening

• the ability to move as fast(if not faster) than G2 in his awakened form
• the ability to punch as hard(if not harder) than G4 in his awakened form
• the ability to be undamaged by most(if not all) non-haki impact and cutting attacks by increasing elasticity
• near infinite stretching

However Luffy will also gain boosts to his gears with awakening

• gear 2 will by way faster as Luffy will be able to make his blood vessels more elastic, thereby increasing the amount of blood pressure he can handle
• gear 3 will be way stronger; as Luffy will be able to juice way more power out of his muscles, he will be able to use G3 way faster and stronger. Furthermore he will be able to compress the bone balloon to increase the hardness and speed
• Gear 4 will become more slender and stronger as he will be able to increase elasticity with both his DF and his haki

But how will Luffy awaken?????

I believe that it could possibly be with the help of professor Vegapunk

We know that Smoker is going to Vegapunk, we also learned a lot about Vegapunk in Punk Hazard; imo we could possibly see Vegapunk very soon as we have been hinted at him for a long time. But why Vegapunk? Well in an SBS, Oda stated that a certain professor would explain DFs; now we can assume that this professor Oda is talking about is likely Vegapunk. And with awakening being introduced, it would be a good time for Oda to introduce Vegapunk so that he can fully explain awakening.

However i think someone else could help Luffy awaken. Vegapunk will likely explain awakening, however i think someone else could train awakening. Those others being

– Monkey D Dragon

We know that the revos are trying to stop the distribution of weapons from a specific weapons shop

From this cover story, we can assume that the weapons are being distributed by Kaido; so i think Dragon could possibly become involved and maybe train Luffy to take down Kaido.

Another possibility could be Scopper Gaban, however i am doubting if he has a DF

Lastly, Luffy could awaken just by getting stronger(he gets stronger by experiance)

Most of us are aware of many of the different theories regarding Blackbeard, and how he is able to wield two Devil Fruits.

The most popular are, [in short] :

1. The Ceberus:

That Blackbeard has a Mythical Zoan fruit based on the three headed beast ”Ceberus”, which would allow him to consume multiple fruits.

2. The Chimera:

That Blackbeard’s body is made up, atypically, a sort of fusion if you will that allows him to consume multiple fruits.
[some suggest that ability is also a Zoan fruit]

I disagree with these, [although not entirely]

And do not want to theorise how Blackbeard miraculously stored two devil fruits, but rather discuss what lies in store for Blackbeard

I would like to discuss my opinion and theory on what the future holds in store for Blackbeard and the BB pirates:

Blackbeard as we know has become a Yonko, and Jinbei updated us that:

That’s quite weird, Blackbeard hasn’t been using the most threatening weapon in his arsenal to take over places, why do you think that is?

I reckon its both of the following:

1. To not kill of the majority of Pirates he encounters until he assesses them
2. To not cause more and more attention on his self until he amassed an army

Let me discuss these points.

I believe Blackbeard was not using the Gura Gura no Mi, because he did not want to reach a stage where something would have had to have been done about him by the WG prior to reaching his target of creating an unbeatable army.

Now, that begs the question how would he do this?

Take a look at what Jinbei also said:

The BB Pirates have been ”Power Hunting” powerful devil fruit users, and have the ability to take the fruits.

I wonder who was doing that:

That’s right the good old mystery on how BB manages to steal the fruits ability.

I mean we do know that Blackbeard has a weird body to begin with even Marco noticed.

That brings me back to my point of Blackbeard amassing an army:

Jinbei said; they were power hunting and that they could take the ability of a Devil Fruit user .

Let me pose you a question:

HOW LOGICAL WOULD IT BE THAT BB HAS BEEN GIVING DEVIL FRUITS TO HIS PIRATE CREW, ATTRACTING STRONG FIGHTERS AND CREATING AN ARMY OF DEVIL FRUIT USERS!!!

That good old Blackbeard :

Now moving on, why would BB be after such an army,, [ i mean besides being the head of a pirate war machine].

How about attaining the final stage of his plan prior to attaining One Piece.

Which is : Getting the most powerful Mythical Zoan Fruit !!!

The way i see this, is a clever foreshadow by Oda to mean:

And which Devil Fruit would be ideal for someone who uses the Gura Gura no Mi, and Yami Yami no Mi?

How about :

[Although it has not been Explicitly confirmed Kaido is a Zoan user, it is plausibly assumable]

That’s Insaaaaaaaane right!!

But wait one second, why would BB, someone who has the Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi, want an army of devil fruit users to help him take on Kaidou?

Maybe because Kaidou has something similar:

So i believe the following will happen:

1. BB will create an army he feels big enough to take on Kaidou and his Army

2. Kaidou , will be intercepted by Blackbeard and his army one day

3. EPIC clas of yonko’s, where BB will be successful

4. Blackbeard takes the Zoan ability of Kaidou

Giving him :

The strongest Paramecia,
The most dangerous Logia,
The most powerful Zoan

and his Jolly Roger will actually match up.

Sakazuki, commonly known by his alias Akainu, is the current fleet admiral of the Marines, succeeding the previous owner in Sengoku. He is a strident follower of Absolute Justice, to the point where his extremism prompted Aokiji to resign from the Marines.

Akainu’s beliefs led him to go as far as destroying a refugee ship because of the possibility that a scholar could be hiding on board. He takes his extremist attitude as far as to kill anyone who does not share his point of view, as he attempted to execute Coby for his plea to stop the war. Additionally, he has no tolerance for Marines who desert their posts.

As Fleet Admiral, Akainu holds immense pride in the name of the Marines, as when he learned Fujitora let the world know of what transpired in Dressrosa, he was furious. His pride is so great he would rather cover up the ordeal to ensure that the Marines are adamant and credible to his doctrine of Absolute Justice.

Most would say that he is just a bastard. But, there must be a reason for his attitude. One thing that makes me believe this is his picture as a child. His clothes are tattered and he is holding a dagger. The look on his face reminds me of Law when he was trying to kill everyone. And the cap has the word “justice” written on it

Surely there is a reason why a child like that turned into a person like Akainu.

First of all, I’ll assume that his family was killed and because of some circumstances, Akainu didn’t know who killed them. Therefore, he searched around for the one\s responsible to get revenge (the reason he has a dagger). But, since he was just a kid, he got beaten up a lot (the reason he is injured). With no family to return to, he lived on the streets (the reason for the tattered clothes).

Then, one day, he was found by World Government and taken in. There, he was raised either by the World Government or by the Gorosei for a higher purpose. In order to ensure his loyalty, they lied to him and told him that his family was killed by pirates. Furious, Akainu decides to train to become a Marine and thus kill every pirate in the world. That way, the Akainu we now know was born. I believe that the Gorosei only searched for someone who would work blindly for them so they can hide their true intentions behind his back and status as a Marine Admiral.

The reason why I believe this is the following:

On this picture we can see that he is dressed in traditional Japanese clothing even though he pushed it down. Also, he is taking care of a tree and it’s obviously a Japanese setting. He has a sakura tattoo as well. This connects him to one of the Gorosei, the one who always wears a kimono.

Also, in the following picture, he has a katana. The Gorosei above also uses a katana. He may have trained him and shown him how to use one, which would only prove what I wrote above.

This is also just an assumption, but let’s say that Akainu’s family actually was not killed by pirates, but by the CP.

Akainu is shown to be loyal to the World Government as many of the upper echelons nominated him to be Sengoku’s replacement as Fleet Admiral. This could explain his loyalty.

Nonetheless, he expressed disdain when he was informed that the report given to Marine Headquarters about Doflamingo’s resignation from the Shichibukai was fraudulent. He even personally argued with the Gorosei concerning the matter. I was surprised by the fact that he actually argued with them. Normally, you wouldn’t do that to someone superior because you could lose your position. That made me believe that they were actually close (supposedly because they raised him).

He even asked the Gorosei why the whole world had to be misled for Doflamingo’s sake, noting that if an incident like this were to occur again, he as fleet admiral would be disgraced. The Gorosei ignored him, saying that they were not concerned with his reputation as the Marines are only the public face of the World Government. When he was told that the case had been left to the CP, Akainu retorted that even the Gorosei had been walked over by the “Celestial Dragons’ puppets”.

With this conversation, we can only notice that Akainu is also being misled by the Government and has started to ask questions, though not at the same level as Aokiji and Fujitora. He still doesn’t know that the Gorosei are only using him and that everything is a big lie.

I think that Akainu is just a victim of the Gorosei’s schemes and plans. I really feel sorry for him since I believe that he isn’t really a bad person.

So, after reading the latest chapter, I think it’s a reasonable guess that Kaido is a Mythological Zoan: Dragon (Japanese dragon). Take a look at this here. Kaido’s got the same sort of beard, the same sort of tendril-y mustache, as well as the fact that he’s got a dragon scale pattern tattooed on his left arm.

This all says to me that it’s pretty possible that Kaido is a Japanese dragon Zoan. This explains why Momonosuke is such a big deal, because Momo would be an illegitimate form of Kaido’s fruit.

More “proof”:

1. It’s said in this chapter that a person who attempts to fight Kaido would find themselves faced with “a Kaido”. Quick Google search reveals that a “Kaidou” is a type of ancient Japanese road. Japanese dragons are known for being unbelievably long. Kaido as a dragon would probably be long enough that he basically would be “as long as a Kaido”.
2. Dragons are known in their legends for being either one of two things: 1. Immortal. or 2. Mortal, but with incredibly hard, nearly-unpierceable skin that essentially makes them immortal unless you can find a chink in their armor. This pretty heavily draws parallels with Kaido, as well as gives him a potential weakness so he’s not too OP.
3. How did the man manage to single-handedly get to a sky island in the first place? Yeah, he flew as a dragon.
4. This color spread immediately after it’s mentioned that the Strawhats are targeting Kaido. It’s the Strawhats as a bunch of knights, “slaying” a dragon. Tell me that’s not a serious case of foreshadowing.*Theory by PuddleOfMush

Kaido: Vegapunk’s Perfect Creation
From what we can come up with the latest chapter, there’s only a thing that stands out the most and that’s the fact that Kaido is invincible. Literally speaking, there’s nothing ever created in OPverse that can harm him at this moment not even the combined efforts of the Navy. But he got this prominent scar from his right ribcage extending down to his lower abdomen which is totally odd for a person defeated 7 times, captured by Marines 18 times, and tortured several times to only incur just one scar at all. Oda isn’t some drunken mangaka that will just name a guy that inflicted that scar on him despite the fact that it surely a fatal blow (Luffy almost died from his scar he incurred from Akainu) that made a scar that big which is totally counter-intuitive. Therefore, he incurred that scar before he enters the “invincible mode” of giantification (genetically human but humongous in size and strength). Let me quote Law’s statement:

“The ‘giantification’ of humans is something the World Government has been researching for hundreds of years… For soldiers probably…. If they could turn any soldier they wanted into a giant, they’d be invincible.”

From what we can see from the imagination bubble of Law, it resembles Kaido destroying some buildings and I come up with this hypothetical idea:

Kaido lived his life as a criminal(based on the latest chapter) so obviously he was captured by the Marines as a test subject for the giantification project of the World Government. Lots of failure and dead test subjects until they finally come across with Kaido and miraculously come up with the optimal solution and procedures for the operation. It worked well on Kaido and it spontaneously affected his physiology turning him into an aggressive juggernaut that destroys everything on his path (based on Law’s imagination bubble on manga). He destroyed everything on the laboratory, every record, and turned Vegapunk back to square one again as he left the ruined laboratory.

This is a total failure for Vegapunk. As usual it was all covered up by the World Government. But the research team is still recovering the perfect formula for giantification. The same reason why Caesar Clown is so eager to perfect the art of making human giants and eventually gain his lost reputation and become the greatest scientist. But Caesar Clown is a bit different this time; he got this wonderful idea that can possibly tame a beast like Kaido if he gradually ingests some addictive drug known as NCH10. This way, Caesar Clown is certain that his human giants will be obedient and come back for more without taking it by force just like what Marines are doing.

It also explains why Kaido is captured by the Marines 18 times and sunken 9 mammoth prison ships, Marines are trying hard to retrieve back Kaido on Vegapunk’s lab. Unfortunately, none of it worked. He’s completely unstoppable. This is evident from the test subjects of Caesar Clown on Punk Hazard that human giants are extremely destructive when infuriated.

As of this moment, I’m absolutely skeptical that Luffy will beat that caliber on monstrousness Kaido has. Obviously, they got 0% of winning from Kaido. But Law said they’ve got 30% if they follow the plan “step by step”. And I’m optimistic that Law somehow knows how to counter the invincibility of giantification.
He went all the trouble and inconveniences to make it on Punk Hazard for two major things:
1. To destroy the SAD Factory
2. To learn more and investigate about World Government’s research on giantification

Luckily, Caesar Clown is conducting the experiment too and he gains an access to walk through his laboratory without any trouble. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he got tons of knowledge about the subject. This is the same reason why he wants to take down Kaido first, since he knows something about Kaido’s weakness as compared to other Emperors he had no idea about and it gives their alliance enough marginal chance to win against him despite what we’ve seen from the latest chapter.

Law’s medical prowess and Ope Ope no mi will surely counter the giantification effect on Kaido’s body making him vulnerable again from attacks and Luffy will take advantage of it and his G4.

Well we can assume that Franky will gain a power up some time in the future, but what could that be??? Well i believe his next power will be in the form of a special gas, i will call this gas “baron gas”. But what is this gas i am talking about?? Well i believe it is a special gas that has the ability to make anything fly.

But how do you know this gas exists? Well that’s because i believe that we have seen it before inside these balloons



As we can see, the moon people used these balloons to get to sky piea, the robots also used the balloons to fly to skypiea; lastly their were a lot of balloons under baron termial, i believe that this is possibly because many people attach balloons to their ships to fly to the sky island(like in the movie Up), this is likely as it shows how Urouge could have gotten to the island without having to find a knock up stream.

For balloons to lift people/ robots, they need to have some strong gas in them; i will call this gas “baron gas”.

So what is the future of this gas???

Well i believe that Franky will find it, with it he will do two things

1. put the gas inside his body, giving Franky the ability to fly; i think Franky could create a machine inside his body that can produce the gas, this would allow him to choose when he flies and when he walks
2. he will use the gas to fly the sunny to the moon

In the movie “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen”, Baron Munchausen used a balloon to fly to the moon.

It inspired the celestial dragons

It also inspired Van Auger

I believe it will also inspire the SHs trip to the moon. This is very likely as we have already been introduced to balloons that can allow someone to travel from the moon to the earth

Also, Urouge’s sky island is called “Baron terminal”; idk if this has any connection to the movie or not, i personally think that the SHs will stop by this island on their way to the moon, this island will also contain some info about the moon(imo)

In the latest chapter, i found something very peculiar about a new character called “sheepshead”

He is shown to have a power which turns his arms into sheep horns, because of this many people would assume he is a paramecia; however i think otherwise, i believe he is a zoan, a SMILE user to be exact. Why?? well for one, Brook was confused on what power sheepshead has; i doubt Oda would write this in his manga if sheepshead was just a regular paramecia or zoan as sheepshead was basically fodder, even for Brook.

Not convinced yet, well look at this

As i showed, when sheepshead transforms it’s not just his hands that change; HIS HEAD CLEARLY IS SHOWN TO HAVE TRANSFORMED. The only type of fruit that can do this is a zoan, however their is something very Odd about this zoan; normally when a zoan transforms each part of the users body transforms to the corresponding animal part(example: Lucci’s human arm turns into a leopard arm when he uses his zoan), however sheepshead is different. Instead of his arms turning into sheep legs, they actually become sheep horns. I believe this is because sheepshead is not a real zoan and rather a SMILE.

This is likely because sheepshead is a Kaido pirate

See the similarity?? Furthermore Kaido has a lot of zoans in his crew so it is likely that sheepshead is in Kaido’s crew as he is a zoan

So what exactly does a SMILE do? Well we know it has side effects, but what are those effects?? Well i believe that SMILE’s have “deformed transformation” meaning that certain body parts are not transformed the way that they should be. For example a tiger zoan would look a lot like Lucci’s leopard zoan in terms of appearance; however a tiger SMILE would be way different, the users arms may actually turn into tiger heads, instead of growing a tail the user would grow another arm, ect. Furthermore, i don’t believe they can be perfectly awakened, rather than having a normal awakening, their awakenings would make them lose control and become a lot like an impel down jailer beast(i speculate that they were awakened SMILES).

Hello once again everyone and welcome back to another theory for your entertainment. This time I shall be talking about the Winged people and the Ancient Weapons. The winged people and Ancient weapons bares a lot of references to Greek Mythology and the Book of Genesis in Christianity.

This is the painting Enel found on the moon.

Those 3 winged people represents the 3 ancient weapons Uranus, Poseidon and Pluton. Each winged race correlates to an ancient weapon and the p0stion and nature of a winged race correlates to what an ancient weapons does.

Skypiean-Uranus-To Create-God of the Sky-The Top-Creationism

Uranus is the power to create and those who wields it are pretty much gods. The Skypieans appear to have a talent for inventing. The Skypieans also appear to be the ones who created the dials. Simply put, the Skypieans were the gods of the OP world and the weapon Uranus gave rise to the special clouds in Skypiea and the Devil Fruits(The Tree of Knowledge).

There are sky people creating new ways to control weather.

There are more creations of Uranus and the Sky People.

However, the Skypieans have lost their god status and have been reduced to regular citizens.

Shandian-Poseidon-To Control-God of Water-The Middle-Evolution

Poseidon is the ability to control sea kings and it represent the Shandians. The Shandian you see in the picture has a fish head and in Skypiea….

The Shandian city Shandora had a poneglyph with info on Poseidon.

Oh and for the Shandians and Poseidon representing evolution….

The Shandians also appear to be the opposite of the Shypieans. Unlike Skypieans, the Shandians look like Native Americans/primitive savages.

While in the blue sea, the Shandians had no technology and survived from resources from their natural surroundings. They are so outdated that they even resemble ancient Aztecs who believes in a primitive religion.

The Shandians were being CONTROLLED by their own foolish religion until they were saved by Montblanc Noland.

The “god” the Shandians believed in that were leading them to their demise was a giant snake which is a reference to how the devil transformed into a snake to trick Adam and Eve.

The land of the Shandians is called “Jaya” is a reference to the Greek god Gaia, also known as “Mother Earth.” Gaia had a union with Uranus (Father Heaven)the first 12 Titans who ruled during the legendary Golden Age descended from her and Uranus.

The Shandians spent centuries defending their illustrious golden city that lost in time. A city being covered in roots and moss.

However, when the Shandians ending up in Skypiea, their land was stolen by the Skypieans(god) and a war ensued to get their land back. The war made the Shandians DESTRUCTIVE.

The Shandians tired killing anyone who got in their way regardless on who it was and was prepared to step over their comrades to achieve their goal. However, being destructive is not their nature.

Birkan-Pluton-To Destroy-God of the Underworld-The Bottom-Extinction

Pluton is a battleship capable of great destruction and it correlates to the nature of the Birkans. Pluton is named after the Greek god Hades and symbolizes war. Birkans have larger wing spans than Skypieans and Shandians and appear to have a natural gift for combat almost as if they are purely soldiers.

The Birkan’s natural destructive nature and martial prowess.

Remember when I said the Birkans were “the bottom” and soldiers? Well in Skypiea lead by Enel, the Birkans forcefully risen to “the top.”

The Shandians lost control of their homeland to the Skypieans and as if they were taking advantage of the chaos, the Birkans used God’s creations(DF and dials) to strip the Skypieans of their god status.

The Birkans took Shandora for themselves and started a new war between the Birkans and the Shandians.

Since the Birkans stole the role of the Shandians, they became the “new poseidons.” Look at Enel with “Poseidon’s trident.”

Another hint to the Birkans becoming the new “Poseidons” is the birkan Gedatsu discovering a hot spring near Alabasta.

The Birkans then controlled Skypiea with fear using their overwhelming power.

Now then, a few things that I couldn’t insert into the theory without making things confusing(to me).

1- The birkans STOLE the position of GOD right? Does it remind you of the Tenryubitto “gods” stealing the OP world for themselves 800 years ago? If so, you are half right. 19 of the 20 Kingdoms that created the WG are thieves, but the main Tenryubitto family simply took their world back as they are the remaining “pure” humans in the world. Don’t get it? The head Tenryubitto family is responsible for the creation of the OP world(lets call it Vearth) over 5000 years ago. They are the first, the originals and the creators and that is a theory for another time.

2- The Skypieans have an idol.

Seem familiar?

Since we’re on the topic of Greek Mythology and that the OP world has a lot of strange species, could this be the OP version of Titans? The idol represents the yearnings of the sky people(gods) and the titans are the second order of divine beings and proceeds its successor gods.

First some context :
Leonardo was mostly a self-taught Genius. His formal education had been very basic and completed at a very young age. His brilliance stemmed not from a natural talent (even though any drawing from his youth is obviously advanced). But his Genius instead stemmed from an insatiable spirit driven to reach a goal that he gave himself from again a very young age. He was so mesmerised by the beauty and workings of nature in Tuscany (his original home) as a child that he chose to learn absolutely everything there was about how nature worked! He decided no secret held by nature would be kept from him. One of Leonardo’s motivations of his inventions was to mimic nature, learn from it or in a sense control it! The true Genius of Leonardo Da Vinci was thus a product of his overall positive and driven attitude with his endless energy flowing from his deep commitment to complete his goal. Leonardo was often called “one of the greatest brains of all time” and “the man 500 years ahead of his time”.

Does this description sound familiar ?

Yea you guessed it, this is exactly how Vegapunk has been described in the One Piece universe. That’s right he was inspired by Leonardo D. Vinci (I know is Da Vinci, is just a little play on word lol).This will come in handy later. Now back to Vegapunk.

Notice anything particular in his cyborg animals and pacifistas. Vegapunk like to numerate his cyborgs, which bring us to this guy:

This guy is a cyborg with a number and is based in an extremely mechanized island. Yea that’s right he seems like one of Vegapunk cyborgs. Unless Kaido got a great scientific mind who likes to numerate his inventions, this is clearly the work of Vegapunk, but why would one of Vegapunk’s inventions would end in Kaido hands? That’s right because Kaido and Vegapunk are working together. As for the why are they working together, we will give an answer soon, but first, another area of Vegapunk research is this:

He was the first to create an artificial Zoan Devil fruit thought it was deemed a “failure”. We got this :

That’s right like the mechanicals inventions, Vegapunk is also giving artificial Zoan to Kaido.

Wow wow wow, you would say, have you even read the manga ? Kaido Zoan army are coming from the Smiles that Caesar Clown and Doffy are producing. Ok fair enough let’s examine some facts :
Smiles are far from perfect

We don’t know what those risks are, but think about it, if you were to build an army, would you gamble so that your army is vulnerable who knows how and when ? Maybe, maybe not.

Smiles are known by lots of people
Like in the image above, we know Law is aware not only of their existence, but also of their limits, we got Caesar who also claimed this :

So I think it is safe to assume that not only Kaido, but lots of people heard or even possess Smiles.

Smiles are made by Joker and sold in the black-market.
Like stated before, lots of people know and have probably access to smiles, then don’t you find it Odd that only Kaido got the idea to build and army (why not Blackbeard, Big Mom or any major player). I think is because the risks are too high.

Smiles are produced by Caesar
Seems odd that Vegapunk was the first to create and artificial Zoan, and with his genius obviously greater than Caesar, why would Vegapunk stop to produce artificial Zoan and Caesar would continue successfully. Doesn’t make sense.

Here’s the deal, Vegapunk continued his research and his artificial devil fruits are far superior to Smiles. Since he and Kaido are working together, they decided that the best way to keep it secret is to make believe the entire world that Kaido was using Smiles to build his army of Zoan, when in fact he is using Vegapunk superior artificial fruit. They do this, because, everybody knows the risk of Smiles, so if Kaido appears to by using them, his army is not much of a threat to the big players if they are aware of the weakness of his Zoan Army, so they leave him alone. It also protects Vegapunk, if they make believe that Kaido is using Smiles (accessible in the underworld) nobody thinks that Vegapunk is working on artificial devils fruits too.

OK, you make it till here, and you think all this is at least a bit possible, you will ask yourself, but why Vegapunk would work with Kaido.
The short answer, they are both working directly for the WG.
Don’t you think that those bastards at the WG would try to have an influence in the Yonko’s territory? Who is best to make a deal with than a ruthless, hungry power Yonko like Kaido. In exchange of his collaboration, the WG agreed to give him access to weapons (cyborgs and artificial devil fruits) through Vegapunk research.
Also if you remember in marineford arc, the marines couldn’t track Whitebeard movements, even though they knew he was coming to marineford. But with Kaido, they not only knew his intentions, that he was going after WB (because it was an order from the WG) but also that he was stopped by Shanks (because Kaido told them). So it seems to me that Kaido is working with the WG

Now about Vegapunk, he seems like a nice guy, who care for others, why would he work with the WG and a men like Kaido.
Here’s come the Leonardo Da Vinci parallels. Much like Da Vinci, Vegapunk is a naïve good man who thinks that with his inventions he would help make the world a better place. As a young inventor he saw the limits of his resources, so he did what anybody with a good heart with the intention to help his fellows humans would do, join the good organization: The marines. Like that he got access not only to materials resources, but also human resources and information to make his inventions come to fruition.

As he worked with the marines in the higher spheres, he saw the corruption and the bad thing that were done by the organization. He also heard of the awful things that pirates do. So like any naïve genius would do, he became disenchanted by the state of the world, he became bitter to the point of thinking that the world needed a renaissance (again Da Vinci was one of the architect of la renaissance, an age where the scientific mind led the world to a better place).
Vegapunk got the genius, but he knew he needed power, so he turned to the most powerful faction, the WG to make his plan work. Now he became the archetypical disenchanted scientific, he went from a naïve good guy thinking his inventions would help the world, to this scientific mind with the mission to save the world no matter how (cleanse the world of all of his madness, even if it means destroyed it). Moreover, don’t you found enigmatic that if he was still a good guy, that is really incompatible with the fact that he created the Cyborg weapons – the Pacifista, and the even more bothering fact is that “Pacifista” seems to come from the word “Pacifism” or “Peace”, witch fit this idea of his resolution of “saving the world”.

Now you may say, why he didn’t join the revolutionaries. First he is described as an old geezer. So by the time he got disenchanted and bitter, probably the revolutionaries weren’t still actives. Some say that he may be a spy for Dragon, again doesn’t make much sense to me, why would you send your best scientific mind (to build weapons) to your enemy organisation, usually spies are important guys, but not that important.
Then there’s the whole Kuma action.

Because Vegapunk made a deal with Kuma (who is a revo) people think that Vegapunk is a revo too. But again if both were revo, why would they need a deal. If I remember correctly, Vegapunk accepted the deal because Kuma “got some dirt on him”. Why would he need to blackmail if both were revos.

Finally and not least, with his genius Vegapunk will surely one day create a weapon so powerful that it would destroy the world (to cleanse it of all his “evil”), but we know there’s a man who would counter this invention :

With his invention, Franky is going to surpass him in terms of innovation and technology; hence he will become the greatest inventor of the world, fitting the King of pirate’s equipage.
