Cavendish and Hakuba

Cavendish_e_Hakuba

Cavendish has an unusual condition, where he possesses a combination of narcolepsy, sleepwalking and Dissociative identity disorder. His inner personality, Hakuba, awakens when Cavendish falls asleep and grants him incredible speed, to the point that he moves too fast for the eyes to track; even with Haki he can barely be seen. Due to this, back in theRommel Kingdom, everyone believed it was the wind that was slashing people. As such, the phenomenon became known as the “Kamaitachi of Rommel“. An even greater example of Hakuba’s speed is that he instantly defeated Dellinger, an executive of the Donquixote Pirates, without even being seen, who himself is renowned for defeating opponents with his speed.

As a fighting style it is not ideal for match-style fights like the competition in Corrida Colosseum. Though he defeated the twenty strongest fighters in Block D instantly, in the end it led to Rebecca’s victory (as she was the only one who managed to see and barely block his attack) as he promptly fell asleep afterwards. It is also not ideal for fighting alongside comrades as Hakuba will attack both enemies and allies alike.

Cavendish has been shown to be able to surpress Hakuba to a degree where he can access his incredible speed without losing control, but only for a very short duration, and he will still fall asleep afterwards.

    AWAKENING EXPLAINED

    Introduction

Awakening is a huge topic of interest and it has become one of mine too. Initially, I assumed it could end up with a lot of discrepancies if it were a deus-ex machina boost as there are so many devil fruit abilities, but Oda’s shown he has a method to his madness.

If anything, I expect awakening to be similar to haki; something that’s been a part of One Piece since the beginning, isn’t outlandish and is usually pretty simple. As we all saw with gear 4th, it was absolutely simple and straightforward and I expect awakening to be the same.

Without further ado, I shall proceed to breaking down awakening and elaborate on the results of my findings.

    What is Awakening

Awakening is the full manifesting of a Devil fruit’s full power; it’s a phenomenon that occurs when one has fully learnt to control their devil fruit.

A simple analogy to explain awakening would be it’s more sensible to be able to ride a bicycle with perfect control at high speeds before upgrading to a motorbike or accidents will occur; the same is synonymous with Devil fruits, you don’t get to use the full potential of an ability when control isn’t adequate or it becomes a counter-productive and useless power.

    Devil fruits

Devil fruits as we know endow one with powers; unbeknownst to us, there exists another side to these Devil fruits which is called awakening. I will be breaking up devil fruits into 2 sub-divisions:

    • Baby-Stage: When referring to the initial powers granted which is the suppressed power of a Devil fruit.
    • Awakened-Stage: When referring to the unsuppressed power of a Devil fruit.

The user’s role and levels of Devil fruit control

The user and the Devil fruit are 2 separate entities, Joker’s brief description of awakening is consistent with this belief; he goes on to mentions that it’s the Devil fruit that awakens rather than the user. If it’s the Devil fruit that awakens, then it begs the question, what role does the user play in awakening the devil fruit?

According to my findings, awakening is dependant on 1 factor which is perfect control over a Devil fruit at its “Baby-stage”. How did I come to such a conclusion? One has to read Joker’s analysis of Luffy before he boasts about awakening as answered in the spoiler below.

    • Joker first analyses Luffy’s gear 4th and his analysis implies it’s being held in place by haki rather than being solely used to enhance or support gear 4th; Luffy doesn’t cover his body in haki for gear 2 or 3 because haki isn’t fundamental in maintaining those forms.
    • Joker proceeds to confirm this assertion by acknowledging Luffy’s fairly good grasp over his ability, which in other words, means he doesn’t have perfect control yet which can ultimately be translated as Luffy wouldn’t need to use haki to maintain his gear 4th, if his control were that of perfect mastery.

Based on this, it seems rather conclusive that only perfect control is necessary for one to awaken.
Simply put, there are 2 levels of Devil fruit control:

    • Baby-tier control: Imperfect control over a Devil fruit.
    • Awakened-tier control: Perfect control over a Devil fruit.

Advancing from Baby-tier control to Awakened-tier control at a Devil fruit’s Baby-stage is when the Devil fruit advances to the Awakened-stage.

    Awakening Model:

    • On consumption, user is at Baby-tier control and has access to the Devil fruit’s “Baby-stage” abilities.
    • Train to advance from Baby-tier control to Awakened-tier control.
    • Fruit advances to the Awakened-stage once user has advanced to Awakened-tier control.

    Rarity of Awakenings

The first thing to notice is he never says awakening is rare; however, he just says it’s the next and final stage to Devil fruit progression or development. He only mentions an Aspect of awakening that is rare and that’s when it affects beyond the user’s body like Joker showcasing the evidence of his fruit being awakened.

This external effect is such as buildings turning into strings can be activated or deactivated, so awakened users can affect when their fruits affect their surroundings.

Why all Devil fruits Awakenings won’t affect outside the user’s body

As the translations imply, an awakening will not always affect the surroundings. One has to ask then when does it affect the surroundings? Seemingly, it affects the surroundings depending on the nature of the Devil fruit or ability at the Baby-Stage.

The first Criteria is the ability must allow a user to produce and control substances of innumerable quantities which so far includes two Paremecia, Joker and Trebol along with all Logia.

Being that the purpose of awakening is to increase the effect of an ability, if an ability at the Baby-stage allows one to produce a substance, awakening enhances that ability by increasing the amount of the substance produced.

The question is what is the source of this increase? and this is where the surroundings become important…

If we use Ace, a Logia, as an example and assume Ace was awakened which I believe he was, what was his final and ultimate attack? “Flame Emperor” which was a huge flame ball we can assume requires being awakened. We can also assume he didn’t need to turn trees and buildings into flames, he can just conjure it which means his awakening doesn’t depend on surroundings as a source.

The question that finally arises is why does Ace’s awakening not depend on the surrounding inanimate objects to produce fire, while Joker requires’s awakening requires the surrouding to produce strings?

Perhaps, if the object being produced isn’t intangible like Fire, Sand, Magma, etc. then, it won’t affects the surroundings whereas if it is tangible like strings, it will affect surroundings.

Out of all the people who create and produce a substance that is tangible, those who produce tangible substances are:

    1. Joker’s Ito Ito no Mi (Paramecia)

And this is why such awakenings are rare; not many DF users will extend their powers to their surroundings besides Joker.

    Permanent or Temporary

It’s a permanent effect. Where is the sense in being a master at controlling one’s abilities for a moment and then suddenly being bad at it? None whatsoever. How to prove this? The Zoans in Impel-down were awakened and despite losing consciousness, they remained in the same form.

This means awakening is not a temporary power-up since it neither requires stamina or consciousness (like gear 4th) as proven by awakened Zoans and this is also consistent with the theory that it’s a level of mastery which isn’t something lost with consciousness or stamina either.

Also, remember the awakening occurs in the fruit; not on the individual directly. So even though Joker was knocked out, his fruit doesn’t lose it’s status of being awakened except on death of the user where someone else will have to awaken it if consumed.

    Predicting Awakening Power-Ups

We initially spotted the awakened Zoans in Impel-down and Crocodile mentioned that they had increased resilience due to being awakened. We only saw them in their Awakened-stage, but based on Crocodile’s comment it can be deduced that their resilience is higher than it was in the Baby-stage.

    • Baby-stage: Zoan Devil fruit grants a resistance value 30 (made up value).
    • Awakened-stage: Zoan Devil fruit now grants a resistance value level of 100 (made up value).

First thing to understand is Zoan Devil fruits naturally and by default increase one’s physical feats and this fruit clearly increased their resistance at the Baby-stage and enhanced this even further at the Awakened Stage.

Joker before mentioning he was an awakened devil fruit user showed amazing utility of his Devil fruit. We saw him healing internal injuries; creating clones; manipulating people and using it to fly. It’s fair to say even without the Birdcage and the White techniques (off-white, God thread, etc), he showed excellent control and mastery.

    • Baby-stage: The Devil fruit only create strings from the user’s body and possesses less variety of strings.
    • Awakened-stage: As we all saw, the Devil fruit now has a huge variety of strings and creates strings from outside the user’s body too.

What’s quite clear is the awakened string fruit allowed him to have a larger source of strings which enabled him to produce much larger attacks.

Luffy has shown excellent control over his abilities, his gears show how well Luffy has advanced in manipulating his abilities. Gear 4th however powerful it is cannot be utilized if not being held together by haki and evidently, it shows that he’s not mastered his Devil fruit manipulation as Joker rightly stated. If anything, haki being used with gear 4th is acting as a training wheel in aiding Luffy in learning to maintain this form.

    • Baby-stage: Rubber Devil fruit can stretch and expand within set limits and offers good durability against blunt-attacks.
    • Awakened-stage: The Rubber Devil fruit now stretches and expands even further (with little to no limitation) and has increased durability against blunt attacks.

If Luffy can stretch further because of enhanced elasticity and durability, it means:

    • Gear 2 can be faster and stronger since it can handle fast flow of blood than at the Baby-stage.
    • Gear 3 can be bigger and compress even more air than at the Baby-stage, either way it’s more powerful.
    • Gear 4 wouldn’t exhaust him any more because of stronger elasticity & durability and haki wouldn’t be necessary to support it, but only to enhance it’s power.

Stronger rubber properties means he can combine Muscle balloon and Bone balloon without risk; he’d probably almost die doing that now.

    Conclusion

It’s relatively straight forward; once the user’s control has advanced from Baby-tier control to Awakened-tier control at the Devil fruit’s Baby-stage, it means the Devil fruit advances to the Awakened staged where the full spectrum of the Devil fruit’s power is simply unleashed (permanently).

      CP0’S POWERS

If CP0’s main trio that we saw in Dressrosa has Devil Fruit abilities, there is no doubt these will be incredibly powerful powers. Afterall, given their role and likely amount of power as the ultimate shield for the Tenryuubito and Gorosei against external threats, it would be ludicrous to think they would have less powerful Devil Fruits. Of course there is the possibility that they do not possess Devil Fruits, but I find this unlikely.

One important thing to note is that AEGIS is a defensive ability that the Ancient Greek Gods possessed. This and other factors considered, I will rule out Logia Devil Fruit powers for the following reasons:

      • Rokushiki is most effectively used when a users body is enhanced, Logias do not do this, however, Paramecia can and Zoans always do
      • There is a limited number of Logia fruits Oda can use at this point

Now, as I said, as Rokushiki is a heavily body-dependent fighting style, the members of CP0 all likely have very powerful Kenbunshoku and Busoshoku Haki.

According to One Piece trivia, Oda has namedropped another Rokushiki technique called ‘Chokkai’, it’s name means ‘to bother’, although nothing more is known, whether Oda is joking or not is also questionable. If Oda is being truthful about this, having not seen this technique before, we will likely see CP0 using this. If Chokkai is real I suspect the technique will involve after images and immense speed the same way Rokuogan involved immense strength.

From what we know so far, this is a list of abilities they likely have:

      • Busoshoku Haki
      • Kenbunshoku Haki
      • Chokkai
      • Rokuogan
      • Kami-e
      • Geppo
      • Soru
      • Tekkai
      • Rankyaku
      • Shigan
      • Combination of Haki and Rokushiki

      As for Devil Fruits:
Aegis to our best knowledge has three different possible source materials in Greek Mythology. There are three of these CP0 agents and therefore I believe that they each have a direct link to every singular part of Aegis.

The first instance will relate to this man:

Basilisk Mythical Zoan – Hebi Hebi no Mi Model: Basilisk
This is because, in myth, the shield first contained the skin and hair of a Gorgon, granting it incredible invulnerability as it could use Stone for protection and manipulate stone as well as turn enemies into stone. Although the ability to turn people into stone is taken by the Mero Mero no Mi and the Gorgon-based character is embodied in Hancock, a Basilisk Zoan is still very likely and powerful

      Powers:

      • Flight
      • Turn opponent to stone upon contact (not automatic)
      • Extra speed and agility
      • Size advantages
      • Greater muscular power
      • Regenerative ability to external wounds

Secondly, the right hand man from the long arm tribe:

Chimera Mythical Zoan – Neko Neko no Mi Model: Chimera
Legend also states that a Chimera-esque creature of unspecified appearance had formed a part of the Shields construction. The creature is likely strongly related to Chimera. Therefore it’s highly probable that Oda would use the actual Chimera for this guys powers

      Powers:

      • Flame breath
      • Poisonous bite from tail
      • Claws of incalculable strength (swords slashing?)
      • Horns of incalculable density
      • Enhanced speed
      • Enhanced strength and power

Lastly, the tallest of the three characters:

Iron Paramecia – Tetsu Tetsu no Mi
There was a giant killed by Athena called Pallas, and another called Asterus, both of whom had incredibly strong hyde/skin that was resistant to any mortal damage. At the time of the Greeks, Iron was the strongest metal discovered, hence this is a good choice. This guy is huge anyway and can be considered a symbolism the giants in question, his ability will greatly enhance his ability to defend himself

      Powers:

      • Enhanced defence (absolute defence? +Tekkai + Busoshoku Haki)
      • Greater muscular strength
      • Power and density increased greatly
      • Ability to create and manipulate pre-existing Iron
      • Slight magnetic properties

Well, whether I’m right or wrong, these guys are totally monstrous, but this is a little bit of fun, hope you enjoyed! Do you like these choices of Devil Fruit?

LUFFY’S GEAR 5TH THEORY: FATMAN AND BURNMAN

Doflamingo said that Luffy is bad at using his DF, so how would Luffy get better? Now before i go on, i am not going to say words like “awakening” however i can say that without a doubt, the what i am about to say next will probably be one of Luffy’s power ups.

Now what i believe Luffy needs is: 100% control of elasticity without with his DF alone(no haki should be needed).
Now there are a few things i want to say when talking about elasticity; first, what is elasticity? Well elasticity is the tendency of an object to return to it’s original state after deformation; so let me paint a picture for you

        • high elasticity- this is basically vulcanized rubber [IMG] now, i’m not saying that Luffy will ever vulcanize his body(imo it’s unlikely); but i do believe he will be able to make is body as elastic as vulcanized rubber with his DF, and make his body as hard as vulcanized rubber with haki
        • low elasticity- when he stretches his body, instead of his body reshaping it just remains stretched at max potential, Luffy could become like slime. HOWEVER i highly highly highly highly highly highly(okay i think you get the point know) doubt that he will ever become a logia. I don’t believe he will become a liquid, but rather a a semi solid. He will not be able to detach parts of his body, however his body would be so stretched out that he would act like a liquid in almost every way apart from being able to separate his body(he cannot separate ). I believe Luffy needs to work more on being less elastic as it is a skill he seems to lack

But can’t Luffy already do this? Well he can control elasticity like this to a degree, however it is evident that he has not mastered this ability, he cannot use bounceman without haki.

What can Luffy do with this? Welll here’s just one technique i came up with that would really help Luffy out(forgive the bad art, i’m not good at drawing on my computer)
Gomu Gomu no Sword; with this technique, Luffy reduces the elasticity in his bones, he then reshapes his hand into a sword. Once the hand is reshaped, Luffy then uses haki on the hand to make it hard, he also increases elasticity so that his sword doesn’t change shape. This would be a very good technique as it would give him more options in battle, which is very good as it gives him ways to counter certain fighting styles and moves.

But what about the gear? Yes i’ll get to that next

        GEAR 5
        [IMG]

Now i believe this gear will focus completely on manipulating elasticity. But first what will it be? Well i believe it will be skin balloon, now their is enough evidence to back this up so i won’t discuss it any further.
        ******************************

        GEAR FIFTH TECHNIQUES/FORMS

Well as i said; G5 will be haki, DF awakening, and skin balloon. But what techniques will luffy use with this? Well I believe their will be 2 forms to G5. Those being:

        • fatman
        • burnman

        Allow me to explain
        *************************************

        FATMAN

As we know, all of Luffy’s gears are based on things Luffy has encountered in his life. So what will G5 be based off of? I believe it will be based on the techniques of these 2 men
        [IMG]
So here’s what I am thinking:

        • Luffy inflates his skin; and becomes as big as Sengoku
        • now he will control elasticity to control his shape
        • this form will give him insane defense as Luffy could control the elasticity in his skin to make him almost invulnerable to most(if not all) non DF/non sea stone attacks

Why use skin balloon when you can use bone and muscle? What’s the point of skin balloon? Well i think many of you believe that skin balloon is just Luffy enlarging his whole body, but i have a different idea. I believe fatman will be a lot like titan transformations in Attack on Titan

I believe fatman will look something like this

Luffy’s skin will be as big as Sengoku’s body; however Luffy’s organs, muscles, and bones will stay their regular size. Because of this, Luffy will be able to act a lot like Pica; if someone hit’s his skin balloon, he takes very little damage since he can freely move his real body around in the skin balloon. However he will take damage if his muscles, bones, and organs are damaged

I believe this form will be based on low elasticity. So how will this help him? Well here is just a thought on what i think controlling elasticity could do

So say this picture represents Luffy’s arm after he uses skin balloon, now by controlling elasticity i believe he will do something like this

Now if you are confused by my shitty drawing skills, this is basically what i am talking about

        • Luffy will decrease the elasticity in certain parts of his skin to reshape parts of his skin into new limbs

Now if Luffy uses this power at full potential, he would probably look a lot like this
        [IMG]
Luffy would reshape the skin in his body into thousands of new arms. this could be used to defend against enemies that would use luffy’s huge size in fatman to outmaneuver him. Furthermore this could also be used to create the ultimate gatling; we all know that Luffy probably has a move called “kong gatling” which is a gatling version of kong gun that would deal massive damage to opponents. Now with fatman, Luffy could do a “thousand arm gatling” that would be him using kong gatling in each of his arms

This is a pic of how Luffy in fatman mode would use gatling

First he focuses all the air and into the skin near his fists; this means that he is no longer protected by his skin balloon, but rather he 2 huge skin balloons near his fists. He then reshapes all the skin near his fists into their own fists; this means that Luffy will have thousands of fists made of skin growing off his hands; when using gatling, he will make each and every one of these fists use kong gatling
        ****************************************

        BURNMAN

As i said before; Luffy will have a problem with speed when he is using fatman. So how will he fix this? Well i believe he will take his body to the absolute limit. He will do this by using all of his haki, combined with his physical strength to compress the all the air inside of fatman into a body the size of Luffy. By doing this Luffy will have to go full body CoA; however his skin will actually begin tearing from the pressure, his skin would also be heated up to insanely high temperatures do to the cells in his skin overworking. This would cause parts of his skin to begin to burn up, making Luffy’s skin look something like this
        [IMG]
So what will burnman be like:

        • Luffy will now be as tall as Doflamingo
        • his skin would be completely covered in armament; but of few of these spots on Luffy’s skin would be burning do to the heat
        • he would now be extremely heavy, but be small in comparison
        • Luffy will now be able to go fast, while keeping the same power as fatman
        • this form will be based on high elasticity; because of the insane elasticity Luffy’s body will be at, Luffy’s body would act almost as if he was vulcanized(he would not be vulcanized, but he would be as elastic as vulcanized rubber)

How would burnman fight? Well here’s what i am thinking:

        • he would do techniques like kong gun and leo bazooka still; however due to the insane amount of pressure Luffy would be containing, when he contracts his fist, the air would burn up almost instantly. When Luffy releases the punch, his attack would look almost like a hiken(but it would be stronger). Just one kong gun in burman-mode could potentially take out an island
        • Luffy would be fast and heavy at the same time; meaning he would have insane momentum with his punches
        • due to Luffy’s skin being full of highly compressed gasses, even someone like Zoro would have a hard time trying to cut Luffy
