ZORO WILL LEAVE THE STRAW HAT CREW

Zoro leaving the SH crew has been brought up from time to time, but never have I agreed with any of it because it just seemed….unlikely. Like what is the point of Zoro leaving? After re-reading a couple opf chapters, I came to the realization that Zoro defect is highly plausible. So much so that I think his defection has foreshadowed for a while. Everything I found has led me to believe that Zoro and Luffy will have a fallout in Zou. Why in Zou?

Because that is where the grave of Ace is located. Things are bound to get emotional and Luffy and Zoro has some flaws that might lead to a fallout.

Luffy vs Zoro

Chapter 112-113 for those who don’t know. As you can obviously tell by the scans, Zoro beat up 100 people at Whiskey Peak because he discovered they were assassins. Angry, Luffy attacked Zoro out of the blue without even listening to Zoro’s side of the story. Even when Zoro was finally able to tell Luffy the truth, Luffy said he was a lair because “people who feed you aren’t bad.” Luffy was dead serious about brutally assaulting his own crew member over a simple misunderstanding. Luffy is lucky Zoro didn’t defect then because of his naïve and unreasonable thinking. Luffy was entirely at fault.

Luffy vs Usopp

The theme of Water 7 and Enies Lobby is leadership. Water 7 shows that Luffy is somewhat of a poor leader as he couldn’t even calm a dispute. In fact, Luffy made it worse. Usopp was visibly upset and in denial about the Merry but instead of taking things slow and come to some kind of agreement, Luffy kept adding salt on Usopp’s wounds by saying that the Merry is dead, that there is nothing Usopp can do and that he should leave if he doesn’t agree with his captain. The last part is something Luffy should’ve never said as it drove Usopp to leave the crew and challenge Luffy to a fight. Luffy pretty much told Usopp “The Merry is going to die and you are powerless to stop it. If you have a problem with that then get the hell of my ship.” However, Usopp was more at fault because he knew all along that the Merry was done for but yelled at Luffy anyways because he couldn’t let go.

Zoro in Water 7

Zoro here explained that there is respect and dignity that comes with being a captain. A crew who’s captain has lost his dignity will surely collapse. Zoro directly that if Luffy continues to humiliate himself, then he will be the next to leave the crew. Power, respect, pride and dignity is what makes a pirate captain. Of course the crew members respect their captain but at the same time, the captain should respect and appreciate his crew members’ dignity in return.

Zoro also believes Luffy is too careless.

Zoro isn’t necessarily wrong……

Luffy vs Bellamy

The reason I bring up Luffy’s naivety and carelessness is because that might be brought up in their dispute.

Of course its not like Zoro’s any better with emotion. His seemingly uncaring nature makes him come off as insensitive or harsh.

What can we conclude with everything I’ve said so far? That not only is Luffy naive and careless, when emotional, he says anything and everything and is prone to getting violent. Zoro is too serious and harsh.

In Zou, Luffy may get sentimental at Ace’s grave and Zoro may something that Luffy misinterpts as insensitive and gets pissed off. As things get heated up, Luffy may say something unforgivable. For me, I think Luffy may spit on Zoro’s dignity and pride by saying something like “What have you sacrificed!? What have you lost!!” Zoro sacrificed his pride, self respect and dignity but bowing his head and begging his greatest enemy for power all for Luffy’s sake. What Luffy just said is unforgivable and he just destroyed some of his own repsect and dignity. Luffy just humiliated. Tired of Luffy’s carelessness, Zoro will leave the crew and of course, everyone else will be devastated. Luffy will be the one mainly at fault. Zoro is the SH who is closest to Luffy and that is exactly why he left. The closer you are to someone, the more likely you are to hurt them. No matter how close you are to someone, there are some things you should NEVER do or say.

Zoro will become a SHs again of course but that won’t be until after Kaidou is beaten. In the meantime, Zoro will decide to go after Kaidou by himself. Kaidou is a dragon zoan and Zoro is represented by the tiger. In Japan, the only crrature that can stand equally with the dragon is the tiger. Not saying Zoro will beat Kaidou, but Zoro will save Wano from his forces and will become Wano’s gratest hero. In the meantime, Luffy’s experience with Zoro will cause him to become more serious and when Kaidou is beaten, both will have a heartfelt reunion and apology.

  1. Oye, stupid !
this is the same situation for shanks and ben becham..
did becham leave.. nope.. think again, before you write some stupid things like this..
zoro will remain in the crew.
    not meant to offend you.
i only meant to offend your theory.

    • prem there is more anger than you looking in to this more, you just dont want that to happen. And if zoro dosent leave then its boring…just saying. But dont look at is as a negative and get angry, after all this is just a thoery. Cut the guy some slack or you make a better theory!

      • Prem is right this is a stupid theory, his evidence used for Zoro’s reason to leaving the Straw Hat crew is not Zoro’s character. Also here is a theory for you, If Zoro leaves the crew it will be after he goes to Wano Kingdom and finds out something about Kuina that causes him to go off, since she is from Wano. What he finds out is a mystery , but falling down stairs is not how One Piece characters die

      • I have a better theory, drum roll please…….. and the better theory is…… go fuckin kill yourselfs !!!! you guys are so anoying with your theories and bullshits, you all think you know so much about the subject, does some of you is Eiichiro Oda??? I think not, so STFU and make the world a better place by waiting until the end of one piece !!!!

  2. I highly doubt it because what you’ve explained there would basically be a rehash of the whole Usopp fiasco, and would’ve serve any purpose for any character development, since it’s already happened.

I don’t think any of those situations foreshadow Zoro’s leaving the crew, I think most of them are the moments where Luffy learns how to improve his leadership. Zoro’s character’s purpose in the crew (other than kicking ass) is basically to help Luffy improve and grow in that area. And all those situations are for Luffy’s (and the crews) growth.

TR;DR version: The whole misunderstanding/leaving/comming back later thing has been done already and serves no purpose in happening again, Oda isn’t that bad of a writer.

  3. Right.. well… when everyone was separated at Sabody and learnt about Ace’s death from the newspaper, everyone, including Zoro were heartbroken and worried about their captain. It is impossible that Zoro will do anything at all that will tick Luffy off. He is the first mate. Have some trust in him. He has to be harsh cause he is the only one Luffy listens to without taking the preaching as a joke – which is practically because Zoro never preaches unless Luffy is acting idiotic ( more than usual). 🙂
    HE AINT LEAVING!! :'(

  4. nah u r wrong

  5. Monkey D. Bufford

Wrong. The whole Straw Hats will get disbanded forever after finding One Piece. And then 10 years will go by. Zoro will live with Robin & having 2 daughters (Roronoa Kuina & Roronoa Olvia), but they won’t get married,
Sanji will have a 5-Star-Restaurant called ALL BLUE, and meanwhile he raises his own bounty/stealing treasures,
Nami will sell her world maps for a spicy price.
Franky will be the richest shipwright worldwide.
    Chopper will lead a hospital.
Violet will be trying to live from fortune-telling, but she doesn’t manage to get together since she broke up with Sanji.
Cavendish is trying to take Rebecca’s hand… HOPELESSLY.
Usopp is at Syrup Island, and he can shoot without a gun or his pachinko, and tells his advantures to Kaya.

LUFFY? He’s heading with his right hand, Bartolomeo to Amazon Lily…

    • Nice ending. Especially the last sentence. LOL

    • wtf are you telling dude..

    • Monkey D LUFFY

wrong luffy will be with nami

    • I don’t think the Strawhats will disband at all. Not officially anyways. Maybe go back to their homes for a break but not disband. Many places will raise their flags like Fishman Island, Alabasta, Water 7, Dressrosa and many others which the whole crew may have to defend as their “territorial waters”. There are also so much more for them to do like finding Elbaf (assuming they don’t chance on it on their journey to one piece) and maybe even reuniting laboon with the other island whales.

    • I think this is even more stupid than the theory itself

    • INTERNETALWAYSRIGHTHUH

      blablabla

    • How about brook? And where did you get all this stuff?

  6. This theory looks bad. Since Zoro is the first one to join the crew (vice captain?), he won’t take such words from Luffy too easy. Zoro is not like Usopp so IF this were to happen he wouldn’t rejoin the crew like others. This might happen to some new crew member like in the case of Nami since OP need time to end. 😀

  7. This is nonsense. After all Zoro had sacrifice from being aside to his captain? He knows Luffy and understand his moronic actions, and he proved it when he take the bubble of pain from Luffy created by Kuma. His only goal is to become the strongest swordsman and you stated it here when Zoro is talking about being a crewmate. They are not playing pirate as kids anymore. Makesense on your own theory right?

  8. This is the first time I am commenting on a theory coz this is also the first time Ive read something so far fetched. Tsk. What the heck? Zoro leaving Luffy because Luffy will say something like “what have u lost?!” If so, then what was their 2 years of training for??? Come on, man. Stop pushing theories like this..

  9. totaly wrong because zoros goal is to become the best swordsman of the entire world. and to become the best swordsman he has to stay with the straw-hats, otherwise he will just get out of the topic, he wont be shown for a long time and when he will be shown it will be just seconds, than suddenly they will turn to each other by uniting with another crew bla bla bla bla bla…… so that means unnecessary shit for One Piece…

  10. LOL! What a STUPID Theory? have you forgotten what zoro did for luffy? when kuma gave all luffy’s pain to him? he received all of it open arms! and that’s that he will do anything for luffy! he will always look at luffy and never leave him for such unforgivable words! you’re not an OP fan for thinking zoro will leave for a good for nothing reason! and remember! he will be the greatest swordsman of the world together with the Pirate King! STUPID!

  11. i agree with you

  12. Dude its not possible
He even begged Mihawk to teach him how to get stronger for his crew and captain…
And dont u remember the part with Kuma when he absorbed luffy’s pain and exhaustion?
This shows he respects him a lot….

  13. I don’t think that’ll happen. Zoro’s actually very mature. If anything close to this happens, I think it would actually be him who will remind Luffy to get himself together.

  14. I totally disagree with you because if you go to Oda’s interviews with the journalists if i am not mistaken he said that nobody is leaving the crew or something like that. The way you viewed the whole dispute is logically weird because fighting with someone doesn’t mean that he will leave because if you can recall Jimpy said to Ace that he will never do whatever he says to him, yet he changed his mind and followed Luffy, him and Luffy kept on fighting over everything yet Luffy asked him to join his crew and be the 10th member. Luffy and Zoro might fight but Zoro will never leave them. At least this is my opinion but me disagreeing with you doesn’t mean you are wrong

  15. very wrong., even with information from the manga., you missundersttood everything

  16. Not possible.Anyway if zoro leaves sh crew i quit on watching op!!!

  17. I agree with you Swapnil Zoro throw his dignity in the floor for Luffy it’s not possible that he will leave the crew cuz if he does throwing his dignity for Luffy gave him Zero benefits

  18. Man, such a stupid way of clearing things up! Zoro won’t leave luffy unless luffy dies! that simple, he even want to be dead because of him, now he want to leave him behind? he even threw up his abmition to aid luffy, now you saying that? what an ashole!

Get a life dude, you are such a sensitive person, with a very senstiive reasoning!

  19. I dont think so, its part of zoro character to be the most loyal straw hat. Oda would steal kinda zoros identy by making him leave- and as we know all straw hats have a unique character and it would destroy the crew breaking one part out

  20. Dude this is bullshit………….only one point may be correct that SHs may be separated for there mission just like nami sanji chopper now are in ZOA and luffy zoro robin are in dressrosa (following anime ) to defeat MINGO

  21. Ussop is at fault?
Are you kidding me? Even if he “knew” marry was going to die.
What luffy said was unforgivable, i have never wished for luffy to get beaten so much before as that time.

    • Yes, Usopp was at fault and the whole crew knew it. Sure Luffy said stupid things in his anger but Usopp still defected. That’s why the crew wouldnt let Luffy accept him back without an apology.

  22. Monkey D. Bufford,you’re wrong.SHs will revisit all the islands 🙂

  23. You are wrong he won’t leave the crew he will die in Manga chapter 944 ! after he got the best swordsman in the world he will die as a Legend

  24. dude… I have no words for your post… totally reasonable that oda spent 16 years drawing the most badass caracter aboard sunny so then he takes him off the crew. That would simply kill one piece

  25. Too far from possibilities.

  26. Stupid post..

  27. nah~ I think the only plausible reason as to why he’ll separate from the crew is that Zorro cant find his way back to the ship, at the same moment where sanji cooks a lot of food for everyone to enjoy, and forget about him (for a while).

  28. Stupid theory! Zoro WON’T LEAVE! he respects luffy so much.

  29. I DO NOT think that”ZORO WILL LEAVE THE STRAW HAT CREW”!!

Remember the moment at Thriller Park, Zoro and Sanji save Luffy (SH Crew) from Kuma (Shicibukai)..

  30. Meh, what a joke! Did you forgot when he (Zoro) took Kuma’s paw attack instead let Kuma do that on Luffy on Thriller Bark? I cant agree any bit with this theory.

  31. wow are you trolling or something lol

  32. zoro is the most loyal among the SH crew ..he will never do that sort of thing ..remember what he did in thriller bark ..

  33. Shiroyasha

NOT HAPPENING ODA ALREADY SAID ONE PIECE IS NOT A ROMANCE MANGA,AND ZORO IS NOT LEAVING THE CREW BECAUSE OF STUPID MISUNDERSTANDING, WISKEY PEAK ZORO VS LUFFY WAS BECAUSE THEY GAVE LUFFY FOOD.IN WATER 7 WAS ZORO WAS RIGHT LUFFY SHOULD HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT.

  34. Nigga this is the most unaccurate thing i ever read. You are so dumb wtf.
Zoro is the right hand man and most loyal to luffy all your ”proofs” have nothing to do with what you claim.
Misunderstandments happened yeah but Zoro knows that luffy is pretty dumb.
So you forget Zoro gave his life already for luffy?(Kuma)
+The scene with Luffy and Ussop just prove the counter of what you claim how can you even use that wtf is wrong with you…

  35. Zoro wont leave the crew because he respects Luffy and gone through so much already just to leave at this point. And besides Zoro treasures their crew so he’ll stick with them until the end!

  36. How can you be so sure that Ace is buried in Zou?

  37. Luffy Sama

I like the fact you actually read old chapters. Hmm your theory is quite fallacious. There will be no abandoning from Zoro’s side. *pats head* keep reading.

  38. TheRealVandenreich

Woah Woah Woah why is my scrapped discussion topic on here? This wasn’t even a theory and it got tossed aside(by me) 3 days after I made it as I stopped supporting it back in February…..

  39. That will be the exciting theory…

  40. Man i think your theory is insteresting, but it has one big flaw!!
The flaw is that zoro deeply respects Ace´s memory, when they met in Alabasta if i remember correctly there was a moment when zoro even sad “guess we picked the wrong brother to follow” or something like that.
So beeing so respectfull of Ace is unlikelly that Zoro would say something that even Luffy would consider disrespectfull or harsh about him or his death!

  41. I thing this teory from oda sensei, I see the truth of accuracy, one of which is in theory about Kuzan.

  42. It (Zoro leaving the crew) could happen but probably not in the way you have imagined. The reason I think it’s possible is because Luffy and Zoro are the only two strong personalities in the Strawhat crew – everyone else’s personality is too tied up with their identity as a Strawhat pirate under captain Luffy especially because Luffy offered most of them an escape from painful circumstances (Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, and Franky are the exceptions to this, but Franky will never leave because it’s his ship and Sanji is too busy with the ladies who are indebted to Luffy big time, Usopp already left once, so that just leaves Zoro). The distinction is subtly made clear as well – for instance Luffy likes food vs Zoro likes booze , or Luffy’s playful energy vs Zoro who is always either sleeping or training.
I think that if ever Luffy’s ambition came in the way of Zoro’s than Zoro would leave the crew.
For instance, if someone kills Mihawk, claiming the title of the strongest swordsman – Zoro will leave the crew and deal with the usurper himself – because, ultimately his overriding ambition is to become the strongest swordsman in the world

  43. Mr. Vandenreich ,,
First of all, I really liked most of your theory except this one. actually I disagreed with it in total ..
as you know, Luffy is fool by nature and that what make him so funny (I like his foolish attitude) and the fight that you mentioned in CH-112&113 was because was almost sleep and he obviously can’t understand the situation from first glance which led him to stat his fight with zero.

Secondly, when Luffy got his fight with Usopp, Luffy was totally right and that has nothing with his leadership. Usopp was exaggurated about how he feel about Merry, and actually not Luffy is the only one who disagree with Usopp, even Franky did the same thing. As you may remember, Franky throw Usopp under merry to let him see how Merry was useless ..

Last, I really hope your theory become wrong ..
I Like one piece because of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanjy. But if any of them defected from the crow it will be end of the pleasure of watching one piece …

  44. Jirah Joy Umangay

I think Zoro won’t leave the crew. You know why? Because that time in Amazon Lily, Luffy realized that if his brother is dead he still have his crew. That’s why there wont be any conflicts between Zoro and Luffy, instead Zoro will respect Luffy more because Luffy endured the pain without his nakama comforting him. Am I right?! hehe.

  45. The Poster is stupid

I just started to watch one piece 2 years ago, and I know everyone’s opinion must be respected, and honestly I was impressed by your writing, because who we kidding that’s true (at the beginning) , and for your information i didn’t finish reading your article.at some point it got ridiculous and doesn’t even sound like some who who watches one piece,

seriously though, the idea of luffy is gonna say this “What have you sacrificed!? What have you lost!!” is just so stupid , for someone that i am sure have been watching or reading one piece a lot longer than I have, you forgot what luffy is like, yes he is selfish but he said it himself,

” I’m gonna be a Pirate King, and it should be with my crew, I will keep going as long as It is with them” or so he said

  46. I think that zoro’s respect, trust and friendship bond with luffy is wayyyyyyy stronger and deeper.
    So, no…zoro wont leave

  47. This is so stupid, LITERAL Analysis. HAHA
    He’s the firstmate.
