ONE PIECE THEORY SAGA: Clash of the Samurai – The full-length Wano Arc

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Explanation of the theory’s nature:
Welcome to my new theory, I call this theory my ultimate “Wano Arc theory” as this theory, like no other I have made is a complete theory regarding the important Wano Arc.
I have previously made theories regarding it, and other things which you will see, but this one is the gathering of all of those theories and sources and their combination into a One Piece (pun intended).
As you have seen in the list of contents, this theory would be divided into several sections, unincluding this Introduction section we will begin by re-describing the known information about Wano in the series of One Piece.
Then I will describe my opinions and theories regarding the origins and influences of the Wano and it’s arc.
Afterwards, I will look into every known (And unknown as well) important plotpoint of the Wano arc.
At the end, I shall describe the fights in the end of the arc.

CHAPTER 2: OVERVIEW OF WANO KUNI
All known info:

So far, we know that Wano Kuni is a country unaffiliated with the World Government, it is ruled by the Samurai- powerful Swordsmen.

Real-World influences:
Even it’s name basically shows the influnece- Wano Kuni. While Wa no Kuni was a name Japan received in it’s medieval era.
Also the existence of the Samurai show that.
The country then is most likely ruled by the Shogunate, ceremonically working under the Emperor (Who has no executive powers).
The country is also very isolated, like medieval Japan- and they seem to see Devil Fruits as “Sorcery”, showing how isolated they are.

CHAPTER 3: PLOTPOINTS IN WANO ARC
Strawhats are welcome in Wano:

As the Strawhats would get to Wano, alongside with the Heart Pirates, I believe that they will be respected.
However, at some moment, people will discover that Zoro is the one holding the Shusui- the Shogunate in the name of the Emperor will then chase the Strawhats.

However, I believe that as some moment, suddenly Zoro will be stopped near a statue of Ryuma, at that moment people will see their similarity and now Zoro is thought to be Ryuma’s descendant- leading the people to apologize for their actions.

Afterwards, the Strawhats will eat somewhere, I believe that at that moment an old man would try to grab the Shusui, Zoro would stop him, and the mysterious old man would disappear. This man would only arcs later be revealed to be Scopper Gaban.
The reason I think that is because of this pic:

Zoro learns to cut the elements:
Now that the Samurai are very sorry for their fight with the Strawhats, Zoro would ask if they can teach him how to cut the elements, and thus Zoro will train.
It will not be yet shown if he manages to do so or not.

CP9 and Ninjas:
Now we’ll see people we haven’t seen in a while, the CP9 group. They now live in Kumadori’s hermit house, the Strawhats would be cautious and surprised to se them.
Lucci might say that now he is a criminal as well for the World Government.
Lucci will note that he is now a broker in the Underworld yet he didn’t expect him to defeat Joker. Now he notes that the Strawhats should be extra careful in Wano, because it is more dangerous for them than what it seems.

At night, I think the Strawhats would be attacked by Ninjas, it will be yet unknown who ordered it, but of course it will be the Sei i Taishogun, leader of the Shogunate and basically ruler of Wano (As of now they’ll be convinced the Emperor is though)
I think Sanji is the one to quickly notice the Ninjas, I’ll explain why later.

Smoker and Tashigi undercover:

Smoker and Tashigi, undercover, visits Wano as well, Smoker would tell Tashigi that this is not a World Government territory and that they cannot expose themselves as Marines, therefore they stay undercover.
They see the Strawhats.

Musashi ruler of the Shogun:

As an apology, the Sei i Taishogun would invite the Strawhats, in order to apologize for earlier when the Shogun attacked them (Not in reality though).
To Zoro’s surprise, the leader of the Shogun is none else than Musashi, someone he knows from his past, and inspired him to become a Swordsman.

Zoro’s flashback:
For the full version, read the full theory, all the reasoning’s there.
For now I’ll say that Musashi was a traveling Swordsman, challenging people to duels, one day he arrived at Zoro’s village and probably defeated someone Zoro knew, either in a positive or negative way.
Afterwords, Zoro was inspired to be a Swordsman himself, and even surpass Musashi by not fighting with 2 swords, but 3.

Zoro’s fight with Musashi and the rebel Yoshinobu and the Emperor:
Zoro would invite Musashi to a duel, which he will say yes and they’ll begin fighting however it seems that Musashi is stronger.
Suddenly, one of the Samurais attempt to stab Musashi in the back however is stopped by Zoro.
Yoshinobu would warn Zoro, however it was too late- Musashi cut Zoro in the back. Yoshinobu quickly grabs Zoro and tells the Strawhats to run as well, as the entire Shogun chases them.

Now I’ll first tell you the influence of such a thing, well you see, until real-life Tokugawa Yoshinobu, a Sei i Taishogun took power, the Emperor wasn’t the real ruler of Japan, he was only an official figure when everything was in fact ruled by the Shogunate and the Sei i Taishogun basically.

So because of this influence I think the following will happen: When they hide Yoshinobu will tell them the history of Musashi and Wano.
Until some time ago, Wano was ruled by the Emperor, however one day came the powerful Swordsman Musashi, he defeated the commander of the Emperor’s Army, the previous Sei i Taishogun and seized power for himself, now he rules Wano with an iron fist and also turned Wano to a country for the Underworld trade- Musashi in fact serves the only man that ever defeated him- the broker “King”.
At some point, he became a Shichibukai, however Fujitora was very against him becoming a Shichibukai, as he is the one who blinded him. Well you see, Fujitora is none other than the previous Sei i Taishogun!

Now they, the rebels want to bring down Musashi and “King” and have the Emperor rule again.
Luffy would agree to help.

Tashigi and Smoker arrive:
The rebel’s leader would be revealed to be Kitetsu, the one who created Zoro’s Sandai Kitetsu, the cursed sword, he is also a hermit and a friend of Kumadori.
He is unnaturally old, and he will be the one to explain the concept of an “Entity” and he will reveal Asura is an Entity in the Sandai Kitetsu.
Because he is Kumadori’s friend, the CP9 would agree to help. Rob Lucci is a broker but he is a rival of King, and therefore also Musashi.
In fact, I believe that the headquarters of the rebels would be at Kitetsu’s shop, and because of that guess who will enter the store? Tashigi and Smoker.

Tashigi will be surprised (Not in a good way though) to find the Strawhats, especially Zoro.
Despite that, they’ll offer their help.

Arrival of King:
At that moment, the broker “King” will arrive, after Musashi noted to him that the Strawhats arrived, from now on we’ll see a fight between 2 forces for the rule- at one side King and the Shogunate at the other the Emperor and the rebels.

CHAPTER 4: FINAL BATTLE
List of duels with reasoning:

Now, all the Strawhats and their allies would fight, but I’d like to only note the important ones of them.

Roronoa Zoro vs. Musashi:
Obviously a very important fight, after all it’s Musashi who inspired Zoro to become a Swordsman, in this fight Zoro will use Asura again, and perhaps when even that won’t work- he’ll open his left eye, showing that in fact it is only there to be a restraint and in fact he is even stronger than that.
He will also show an ability to cut the elements in this fight.

EDIT: It is also possible that Zoro would take Musashi’s sword after defeating him, though it’s also possible he’ll just leave Musashi’s 2 swords for Tashigi.

Monkey D. Luffy vs. King:
According to my theory, King would be even stronger than Musashi and Luffy would fight him.

Sanji vs. the ninja leader:
I think that the Ninjas would be on Musashi’s side (He’ll hire them), during this fight Sanji would be able to turn invicible after learning it from the Ninjas they fought the night before, and by that also accomplishing one of his dreams.

Impact:
I think there will be a massive impact, the first is that after Musashi is defeated, the World Government at the Reverie would abolish the Shichibukai system once and for all.
I also think that it will mark a collapse of the Underworld trade and would lead to the big fight against Kaido in Kano Kuni.

So what do you think?

    KUINA’S DESTINY Theory

Just a quick thought that just passed through my head, but now I believe that Kuina is indeed Tashighi, and because you scream “nonsense!” let me explain what I think really happened and why.
I always had the doubt that perhaps Tashigi is Kuina, but I just couldn’t find anything to support my claim, until now.
Well you see, I noticed something very interesting about the way she apparently died:

    1

    Note several things:
    A. A towel is covering her head
    B. She is never seen buried
    C. Koshiro doesn’t seem very sad
    D. The only was we know she is dead is through Koshiro’s sentence right here.
This is a very detail-less type of death, I don’t think something would be like that especially when afterwards a character near identical both in personality and appearence appears later:

    2

So here’s what I think happened:
Kuina, after making the promise with Zoro goes back home, now filled with hope for her future, someone finally believes she could indeed be the World’s Strongest Swordsman and tells that to her father, who immediately tells her she speaks nonsense, she was very hurt and upset by her father’s reaction- not only he discourages her but after that he tells her that perhaps being a Swordsman at all isn’t good for her as she begins developing false dreams and now forbids her from being a Swordsman any longer, she becomes very upset and runs away, however in her running she falls down the stairs and is knocked unconscious.

Now she is in a coma, the doctor says she will live and even likely to awaken, however it is unlikely that she’ll be remembering anything.
Koshiro now knew, that would mean she would forget Zoro and her’s promise and knew that would hurt him really badly, and he also knew that would mean she’ll no longer posses any knowledge about Swordfighting, so he decided to do the following thing:
He told Zoro she was dead, put a towel on her head while showing him her “dead” body, because if you see the face you can clearly see she is just unconscious and not dead.
Later, in order to prevent her from chasing “dreams she cannot accomplish”, he decided, in his eyes, to grant her a better life and asked another family to take care of her, they renamed her Tashigi.

When she woke up Tashigi couldn’t remember anything, not even Zoro and their promise, however, despite that, her soul, her entity could still remember the promise and she continued to keep her promise without even being aware of it- that either her or Zoro will be the WSS- so she became a Swordsman and joined the Kaigun and the rest we already know.

Now, on top of Kuina’s very detail-less death, Tashigi is identical to her, and also her age- don’t you think it is kind of a coincidence that there would be 2 people that are completely identical to each other in that manner? I don’t think so, and I also think that Oda even gave us a clue- both Tashigi and Kuina are names of flight-less birds, metaphors to her being a Woman keeps her down.

So, what do you guys think?

PUNK HAZARD AND ITS IMPORTANCE TO SMOKER’S GROWTH Theory

      smoker-one-piece-27307-1680x1050

Everyone after watching/reading the PH arc was complaining about how weak Smoker is compared to preTS Smoker and Luffy. How Luffy went ahead of him.
All this is true. However, I believe it all had a reason and PH played a very important role towards strengthening Smoker.
      Lets get to it:

      • The enitire PH arc was meant to be a wake up call for Smoker.
      • He used to be stronger than Luffy but Luffy surpassed him during the TS.
      • Luffy had 3 main wake up calls during preTS that made his see his weakenesses and train hard to be where he is rite now ie:
        1. Aokiji encountre. He wasnt strong enough to defeat his enemy. He also thought he could take on anyone and everyone.
        2. Kizaru and Sentomru in Sabody. He couldnt protect his dream ie he needs to be alive, not in prison and have his crew to be the PK.
        3. Ace’s death. He couldnt protect someone precious to him ie Ace.
      • PH arc was meant to show Smoker that he is weak and needs to step up his game. Luffy, Law and Vergo who are in his league clearly outclass him @ the moment.
      • Just like Luffy had 3 major eye opening experiences, Smoker also had them in PH ie:
        1. He got defeated by Law and had to beg for his life from a pirate(Law).
        2. He had to fight Vergo who clearly whopped him. He saw the injustice in the marine and was unable to do anything about it since he lacked the strength. He had to depend on a pirate, the scum of the earth, to fight his battle for him.
        3. He had to fight DD who was beyond his level and almost killed him and his crew.
      • All these scenarios showed Smoker that:
        1. He wasnt strong enough to defeat his enemies and He also thought he could take on anyone and everyone. (Law, Vergo and DD)
        2. He coudlnt protect his dream (couldnt stop the injustice and corruption)
        3. He couldnt protect those precious to him ie his crew(against DD and to some extend CC and Vergo)

This experience will make Smoker stronger:

      • The fact that Luffy went ahead to him will fuel his drive and motivate Smoker to train harder.
      • His willpower will be strengthen and his determination to achieve is dream will also be strengthened.
      • He was already stronger than Luffy preTS, so after this the next tym he is shown he will be on Luffy’s lvl.

Therefore Everything that happened in PH was neccessary for Smoker to grow stronger.

        KUINA’S WILL! A SISTER’S DETERMINATION!!!!

        Zoro_and_Kuina

Alright, first lets get it out of the way, Kuina is dead, and she is not coming back. Oda doesn’t like the concept of reviving dead characters in a manga, as stated in a 2007 interview with Playboy. But there is one question on everyone’s mind, that has sparked countless amounts of theories that Kuina and Tashigi are the same person, and that is, why does Tashigi look almost identical to a young Kuina, and share a similar sword style? I decided to actually sit down and think about it, and with the help of an awesome archaeologist, the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. Tashigi is in fact, Kuina’s sister….. So without further adieu lets dive into the theory! Lets start off by taking a look at the individual personalities and traits between the two.

Kuina (Source Wikia)When first introduced (in a flashback), she was cocky and confident in her ability as a swordsman. However, she was always living with the knowledge that since she was a woman, it would only get harder as she gets older for her to compete with men and had been informed by her father of her future woes. She covered her hesitation and fear with cockiness and acted confident instead of fearful and weak, trying to prove to her father that she could become the world’s greatest swordsmen. Her gender would force her to give up the swordsman’s life as she grew.

Tashigi (Source Wikia)While adept at sword fighting, she is usually clumsy. She is also very well-versed in katanas, knowing their names and origins; even when in danger, she would become obsessed with discovering a famed blade. Tashigi is very brave and reckless when fighting her opponents. She will battle anyone who she considers her enemy, regardless what their reputation is or not. As demonstrated through her fight with others, Tashigi has a “sore loser” personality when it comes to losing a battle. Tashigi’s stated goal is to remove all meito from the hands of those who would use them for their own selfish ambitions. Like Kuina, Tashigi felt that as a woman, she would be perceived as inferior to men as a swordswoman.

So you’re probably thinking, what does the personality and traits of each individual have to do with connecting them as sisters…..Well everything actually, considering the environment they both would have grown up in, and the principles and rules that would have come with it. It serves as the reason as to why Tashigi was never mentioned in Zoro’s flashback, and also serves as why Tashigi is so similar to Kuina (minus the clumsiness, but thats a major part of the theory) First I will give you guys a little synopsis of the theory, and then break down how it all fits.

Kuina and Tashigi were both born as daughters to a Master Swordsman. They both showed great passion in wanting to become strong swordswomen, but due to the fact that Tashigi has a clumsy nature, she was forbidden to enter the Dojo and learn. Kuina would teach Tashigi in private, and after the death of Kuina, Tashigi was forced to train herself, through books, and the basic knowledge of swordplay Kuina had taught her.

So lets get the biggest questions out of the way….Why wasn’t Tashigi ever shown or mentioned in Zoro’s flashback? Think about it for a minute, Koshiro is a firm believer in the fact that woman can not grow up to become strong swordsman, this belief however did not stop him from teaching Kuina how to use a sword. So why wouldn’t he teach Tashigi? The answer is simple, and that is, because of her clumsiness. He would never risk putting his daughter in harms way, and therefore she was forbidden from entering the Dojo, and practicing swordsmanship, therefore Zoro never met Tashigi as a child, and never knew of her existence. And before anyone says “Why didn’t Kuina ever mention Tashigi to Zoro” remember, she didn’t like Zoro in the beginning, and they didn’t become close until the night before she died….

The next question is…..If Koshiro forbid Tashigi from practicing with a sword, then where did she learn to use one? The answer is simple….Kuina taught her. It explains why Tashigi’s style is so similar to Kuina’s, and it also explains why she doesn’t possess the skills of a swordsman who has been trained by a Master all of their life. After Kuina’s death, Tashigi had no other option but to continue to train on her own, with the basic knowledge of sword fighting that her sister left her with.

Koshiro forbidding Tashigi from training as a swordsman not only explains why she never met Zoro, but this also explains another one of Tashigi’s passions, and that is why she is so obsessed with Swords, and learning about them. Considering Tashigi was raised by a Master Swordsman, being told she was not able to train must have been hard on Tashigi, and the only other option she would have to learn about swords after Kuina’s death was by reading.

And finally, there is one last subject I want to touch on, which is another huge question that has been on peoples mind, involving Kuina, and that is, how exactly did someone who trains to become a swordsman, die from falling down a flight of stairs? Well, it’s because she didn’t die from falling down the stairs, she was killed. Now you’re all probably wondering, who and why would someone want to kill Kuina? It’s not like she was next in line to inherit the dojo, because her father wouldn’t allow it due to the fact that she is a female. So to find the answer, I once again went back, and looked at Tashigi, and her characteristics, and it hit me. Tashigi’s goal or dream if you will, is to hunt down every Legendary Sword, and take them from those she considers evil (pirates) But what gave her this mindset? Did something happen in the past involving involving a pirate and one of these Legendary swords? Perhaps a pirate killed someone close to her, in an attempt to take one of these swords, and all of a sudden, the real reason behind Kuina’s death became apparent.

        How Kuina died

The night before Kuina died, Zoro had challenged her to a fight using real swords, in which Kuina accepted. Instead of grabbing a regular sword from the Dojo, she took the famed Wado Ichimonji from the Dojo, and set off to the place where her and Zoro would fight. But they weren’t alone, in the Shadows someone was watching their duel, and recognized that the sword Kuina was using, was one of the 21 O Wazamono Grade Swords. After Zoro’s defeat at the hands of Kuina, they had their conversation about their dreams, and made their vows, after which, they went their separate ways. Kuina however, was attacked by the person who was lying in wait, hoping to get his hand on the sword she was carrying. During the struggle, Kuina managed to fend off her attacker, but not before receiving a fatal wound in the process. The attacker however managed to escape.

But why would Koshiro lie to Zoro about how Kuina died? The reason is because Koshiro had high hopes for Zoro, as he saw that he possessed great skill and determination. He knew that if he would have told Zoro the real reason how Kuina died, Zoro would have blamed himself, and spent the rest of his life tracking down the man who killed her. What Koshiro did not know however, was that by telling his other daughter the real reason, it would inspire, and make her even more determined to pick up a sword and fight. It made Tashigi despise those who would pick up a Legendary Sword and use it for their own selfish reasons, as the man who killed her sister was looking to do just that. Had it not been for people like that in the world, Kuina would still be alive. Zoro shares the same principles and dreams as Kuina, he always had, even when she was alive. But his will was always his own, he didn’t pick up Kuina’s will, Tashigi did…
