This will be a quick theory as I am currently working on a video to better demostrate this theory as it needs illustrations in order to be best understood. I know it doesn’t need to be said but SPOILERS below.

Now something that has always bothered me is how a select few Logia Users seem to be able to bypass blows or cuts from CoA Haki such as Sakazuki.

At this point in the Series we had assumed that everything a Logia secretes that he/she is in physical contact with is the body and therefore be harmed by CoA Haki. In fact we had assumed that this is the case with all DF’s until Trebol threw us this curve-ball:

This changes everything about the nature of Logia’s and Paramecia’s. Instead of CoA haki becoming the antidote to all DF’s we are now seeing it’s limitations.

To explain all of these I believe that CoA haki has to make physical contact with the body of the user in whichever state that happens to be in. Trebol’s method to avoid attacks has actually given us a glimps as to how Sakazuki remainded unharmed by Vista and Marco’s CoA attacks. Trebol is surrounded by mucus but because it isn’t his actual body he can’t be hurt by haki if the opponent doesn’t hit his body. This is actually more difficult to see in a Logia because their body appears indistinguishable from their secretions.

Now we know that everything a Logia creates isn’t necessarily their body. There are a few examples that demonstrate this but the most obvious one was when Tashigi was fighting Monet the whole Biscuit Room was filled with snow created by Monet and she kept moving about in a snow medium, preventing Tashigi from landing a blow on Monet’s body directly.

Now I believe that once a Logia user can master their abilities they can move about in their power’s medium at near light-speed. I also believe that this is how Sakazuki was able to avoid taking damage from Vista and Marco. A split second before they hit him Sakazuki instinctively moved his body out of the way, however non-bodily lava material was still there when the blows made contact.
