Who cuts the Strawhats’ hair

D: The crew’s hair has to grow out on those long voyages, right? Does someone give the rest haircuts? Nami or Robin, perhaps? –I Want to be a Hairdresser

O: True, their hair does grow out. So who gives haircuts on the crew? Why, it’s Zoro. He turns on the rest and goes, “Tiger Trap!!” Just kidding!! What the hell, man?!! I’m gonnawhupyer behind!! Shuer yerpiehole!! Why, I oughtta!! The real answer is prolly Usopp or Robin. Maybe I should draw a heart-warmin’ picture of a haircut someday.

*The weird way in which Oda-sensei replied was because the previous reader asked him to speak in Kansai dialect

Adventure of Nevlandia anime special announced

The official website for the One Piece franchise announced on Monday that One Piece will get a TV anime special on December 19 titled One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~. The special will be the anime’s first winter special.

The special with a completely original story will take place on a “Devil Fruit blocking” fog island in the New World that keeps Devil Fruit users from being able to use their powers. The crew will also again meet and have a rematch with the Foxy Pirates from the Davy Back Fight arc. Foxy now has three new subordinates: Dōjack, Kanshō, and Kōmei, the latter of whom is a member of a family of genius tacticians.

Kōmei devises a plan where Zoro and Sanji take part in an eating contest, and the two eat a strange “good-for-nothing-only” mushroom that turns them into good-for-nothing men. The two are then locked in a jail cell. When the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates chase after their imprisoned crew, they land on the island of Nevlandia, which features a mysterious fog made from sea water, and it has the same effects as seastone. The Straw Hat Pirates’ arrival on Nevlandia is also a part of Kōmei’s plan.

Konosuke Uda (One Piece episodes 1-278, One Piece: Dead End, One Piece: Mega Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle) will direct the special.

The special will air on December 19 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. on Fuji TV.

How many people would Shanks and the others be able to defeat?

D: Luffy’s haoshoku haki was able to affect 50,000 men, but how many would Shanks and the others be able to defeat? P.N. Captain Nobuo

O: In exactly the same place and exact same situation as Luffy, Shanks or Rayleigh may have been capable of knocking out all 100,000. In a different setting, you can’t really compare just by asking “how many people”. Being able to knock an enemy out with haki depends entirely on having an overwhelming power gap between the two. In Luffy’s case the point is the number of people that were so weak that they were not even worth him fighting. If there were 100,000 to-some-extent-strong-willed pirates before him, it’s possible that he wouldn’t even be able to knock out a single one. On a related note, as one’s proficiency with haoshoku advances, it’s even possible to target a few people in a crowd to NOT knock out.
