THE WILL OF TEACH AND THE BROKEN PROMISE

The D’s we currently know of
No one knows for sure what the Will of D actually is, but there’s been a lot of theories. I personally like the “Inherited Will” theory that states the Will of D has to do with the people who lived in the country that was destroyed during the void century. Many people have also speculated that Joy Boy’s will was passed down to Roger and was later passed down to Luffy (which makes perfect sense to me imo). So the real question here is…what do all these guys have in common^? They’ve made/are going to make drastic changes to the world? Probably. Let’s analyze this for a second:Luffy– Main protagonist of the series. Already has made an impact on the world (Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Marineford, Dressrosa, and much more to come).

Garp– Hero of the marines. Fought many pirate legends, father of Dragon, grandfather of Luffy and foster grandfather of Ace.

Dragon– Constantly changing the world by trying to bring peace to it and directly opposes the WG.

Ace– Son of Roger and his death brought along a drastic change to the One Piece world.

Roger– First Pirate King. Sparked the Era of dreams and the great pirate age. Found out what happened during the void century.

Jaguar D. Saul– Opposed the WG and basically saved Robin’s (who is going around the world and reading all the Poneglyphs) life with his sacrifice (technically Aokiji did, but his guilt from freezing Saul and seeing what happened to Ohara highly influenced him too).

Portgas D. Rogue– Love interest of the Pirate king and gave birth to Ace after 20 months and died in the process.

Law– As he put it, “I broke the gear”. He’s brought a big change to the world by allying with Luffy which ultimately lead up to the downfall of Doflamingo and the SMILE factory (we have yet to see the full effects of this, but things are already spiraling out of control)

Marshall D. Teach– Dealt the finishing blow to the “Strongest Man in the World” and became one of the four emperors of the sea. He’s constantly changing the world with the rest of his crew (mostly bringing terror and chaos) and the worst is most likely yet to come.

So as we can see, these guys do have a lot in common, but there’s a wild card here who doesn’t really fit into the bunch like the rest…and that wild card is Blackbeard.

This guy is a huge mystery as it is. The way he was introduced to the series when he met Luffy at Jaya almost made it seem like he was a good guy. Hell, even Luffy doesn’t really know what to think of him as shown when he first met him at Mock Town and right when they were going their separate ways in Impel Down.

Now, I’m not going to go into the whole, “He’s a Cerberus” theory. I’m just going to share how I think he relates to the Will of D and who’s will he inherited.

In this scene, Whitebeard basically confirmed that Teach did not inherit Roger’s will by stating, “You’re not the one Roger’s waiting for”. So who’s will did he inherit? Why are all the D’s that have been introduced to the story thus far trying to help others and save people while Blackbeard is bringing terror and destruction everywhere he goes? My guess is that he inherited the will of the one responsible for the fall of the unnamed country in the void century.

This scene right here shows that he’s a straight up backstabber (in the most literal sense of the word lol) and power hungry. I believe this whole story is sort of based off the bible with how Lucifer (Blackbeard) was once an Angel (part of Whitbeard’s crew), but he wanted more power (Yami Yami no mi) and thus he was banished (kicked out of the crew) and became known as the Devil (traitor). I believe something similar happened to the man who’s will Blackbeard inherited.

“The Broken Promise”. It appears that Joy Boy had his plan all set to destroy the Red Line which would combine all the seas to create the All Blue (remember, we’re basing this off the “Inherited Will” theory), so what happened? Why did he break his promise? It’s obvious that the other countries (the founding countries of the WG) banded together and put an end to the unnamed country (speculated to be the first Buster Call), but did Joy Boy just simply not account for this? I don’t think so. I highly doubt he would put such an intricate plan together if he didn’t think that the other countries would try to revolt and put a stop to it. That’s where I believe the man who’s will Blackbeard inherited comes along. My guess is that he had some sort of rivalry with Joy Boy (like how Luffy and Blackbeard are speculated to be the end game rivals for One Piece). Perhaps Joy Boy was gaining too much praise and too much of a following from the other citizens of the unnamed country for his plan to combine all the seas which made him jealous and spiteful towards Joy Boy? And eventually his spite towards Joy Boy got the best of him which resulted in him ratting out Joy Boy’s plan to the other countries which led to the ultimate destruction of the unnamed county and the creation of the void century. Maybe it wasn’t just his spite that got the better of him, but my guess is that he also may have made a deal with the other countries to have a high position of power in the newly formed WG after the destruction of the unnamed country. However, I doubt this worked out the way he planned it. My guess is that after he killed Joy Boy and the country was destroyed, the other countries got rid of him too. And how did he kill Joy Boy? I believe Joy Boy probably went with him to stop the destruction of the unnamed country, but didn’t know of his betrayal and was most likely stabbed in the back (like Blackbeard did to Thatch) and died shortly afterwards. So Blackbeard, the man who’s will he inherited, and Lucifer all have something in common. Once a member of an illustrious society (Whitebeard pirates, the unnamed country, and an Angel in heaven) that gave into greed (Yami Yami no mi, high position of power, more power) due to his jealousy of another (Whitebeard, Joy Boy, and God). Blackbeard has never stated that he was jealous of Whitebeard, but his desire for the Yami Yami no mi was ultimately due to him wanting to be the Pirate King/Most powerful (which Whitebeard was the closest to being) and he did deal the killing blow to Whitebeard at Marineford which paved the way for him to take his spot as one of the four emperor’s of the sea.Anyways, I know we’ll see the flashback of the Void Century one day for sure which will show us what really happened. Right now, it’s purely speculation and there’s not much to base this theory of mine off of. I just find it weird that Blackbeard is a D when he backstabs people, craves power, and brings destruction in his path which doesn’t really fit the trend of the other D’s shown in the series thus far (sure, Roger was said to be ruthless too, but it’s highly implied that he only killed those who insulted his crew). I also find it odd that Joy Boy couldn’t fulfill his promise because of the other countries destroying the unnamed country (I seriously doubt that he just didn’t account for this) which is why I think there had to be some betrayal involved in the void century story one way or another. And what better man to fit the betrayal bill than the man who’s will Marshall D. Teach inherited?
