CURIOSITIES

How many people would Shanks and the others be able to defeat?

D: Luffy’s haoshoku haki was able to affect 50,000 men, but how many would Shanks and the others be able to defeat? P.N. Captain Nobuo

O: In exactly the same place and exact same situation as Luffy, Shanks or Rayleigh may have been capable of knocking out all 100,000. In a different setting, you can’t really compare just by asking “how many people”. Being able to knock an enemy out with haki depends entirely on having an overwhelming power gap between the two. In Luffy’s case the point is the number of people that were so weak that they were not even worth him fighting. If there were 100,000 to-some-extent-strong-willed pirates before him, it’s possible that he wouldn’t even be able to knock out a single one. On a related note, as one’s proficiency with haoshoku advances, it’s even possible to target a few people in a crowd to NOT knock out.

    The tears of a man

Senor Pink once had a wife and son. Senor Pink lied that he was a banker so his wife would not hate him. His relationship with his wife became strained after his son died of a fever and his wife learned that he was not a banker.

After his wife got into an accident and was reduced to a vegetative state, Senor Pink dressed like a baby because that was the only thing that made her smile. Even after her alleged death, Pink continues to wear the infant clothes to this day, showing a deep sign of lingering love for her.

      What happened to Sanji?

At the end of the last manga chapter, Chopper and Nami were shown and they appeared to be safe and in good hands. The fate of Sanji, Brook, Momonosuke and Caesar are still unknown but Nami seems to have grave news. He hugged Luffy as soon as he saw him and she was crying. Zoro was shown to notice something on Nami before all of this happened but the chapter ended at that moment.

A lot of people seem to agree that something bad has happened to Sanji and that whatever happened involved a fight against Jack of some sort. Some of the theories predict that Sanji was captured by Jack and subsequently the Marines or that after a tough battle his life is now so close to death that not even Chopper can save him. What do you think? What happened to Sanji? And where are Brook, Momonosuke and Caesar?

        Franky hairystles

Franky is strong-willed, eccentric, free-spirited, and often has a blatant disregard for rules. He does whatever he wants whenever he wants, though he usually wants little more than to build powerful ships or protect those he cares about and at times can appear very eccentric compared to most of the crew because of his strange mannerisms and knack for building odd things (such as his Franky Centaur).

And as evidenced in the Punk Hazard Arc, Franky also seems to handle children well. As soon as he entered the playroom with his comrades, the children, more notably the boys, immediately took notice. Franky was forthright in displaying his many robotic capabilities, including his ability to change hairstyles by pressing his nose. The children even imitated his comedic antics, performing a “Super!” pose along with himself, Sanji, and Chopper.

          Tashigi was embarrassed

D: In chapter 692, there’s a scene where Nami and Luffy reunite. You can see a stocky-looking sailor who appears to be carrying Tashigi on his shoulder. That’s her, right?! Why is she riding him? She told Zoro, “Let me down when we find my men.” Is Zoro really that worried about her health? Heehee. –Someta

O: Well spotted. Yes, that is Tashigi, but that wasn’t on Zoro’s orders. I think Tashigi being embarrassed by Zoro was simply that she didn’t want her subordinates to see her being helped by a pirate, but being carried by her own men is different. I suppose she might be embarrassed in a different way, though. I don’t really know how young women think.

            If Sanji becomes the President

D: If Sanji becomes the president, what would his politics be? P.N. Kenichi (Aichi area)

            Sanji.full.1046577

O: Yes, let’s see-. First would be “ladies first”. He’d make the whole political organization be composed of beautiful women. There would be a law that only ladies can eat good food, in movie theaters, the # of ladies’ days would increase to 6 days a week, there would be total discrimination toward men, and the men would form a rebellion, and he would fail, losing his position.

Oda was asked what is Luffy’s mother like? Here is the answer:

John Irons: What is Luffy’s mother like? Was she beautiful? What happened to her? Did she die when Luffy was a baby?

Oda: I think she’s alive. I’m still thinking hard about this. [Laughs] But if she does appear in the story, then she’ll be a very tough-looking woman. And strict. There’s no way that she’s a beautiful mother. She’s got this typical middle-aged woman’s permed hair.

                LUFFY’S HAKI COMPARED TO OTHERS

O: I got so many requests for this. I mean, I’ll do it, but it’s creepy, okay? I haven’t shown Blackbeard since the timeskip yet, so he’s not included. That’s all for the SBS. See you next volume!
