A CONDEMNED KILLER! A HIDDEN PAST!

As many of you guys know,the Dressrosa Arc has paralleled the Alabasta Arc in many ways! For most people, this is a sign that there will in fact be a new Nakama joining the Straw Hats! Whether that be the case or not remains to be seen! But today I would like to talk about one of those characters that have the possibility of joining, and how I believe that even if he doesn’t join, his connection to Alabasta runs deeper than any other parallels that has been made thus far. That character I am referring to, is Kyros, the undisputed champion of the Colosseum!

There has always been a few things that has struck me as odd, about the way King Riku treats Kyros. The most baffling one however, is the fact that Riku ordered his men to stand down despite the fact that Kyros attacked him, with the intent to kill him.

Another thing that is strange is why would King Riku, go into the slums, to try and help a person he has never met before in his life? The only thing Riku knows about Kyros, is his name, and the fact that he is a murderer, but Riku went there to save him regardless….. This leads me to believe Riku has met Kyros before…

Then we have this scene here, where King Riku explains how the citizens of Dressrosa would never be able to accept a marriage between Kyros and Scarlet due Kyros’ history…..Note that King Riku never makes mention about Kyros status as a “commoner”

Finally we have this scene here, where Kyros states that that he doesn’t want to give King Riku any more hardships, and King Riku replies that it would be unforgivable, for anyone, except Kyros, and that this story is something he has never heard of before…

Ok, so where the hell am I going with this? It’s simple obviously! I am implying that Kyros is actually royalty! Kyros himself, is actually the former Prince of a country, which he left when he was still very young! He is actually the younger brother of someone we all know quite well! Lets take a look shall we?

Now if you notice, Cobra and Kyros share very similar facial features. Their eyes are very similar and with the exception of Kyro’s widows peak, their hair is also exactly the same. So this got me thinking, if it was possible that Kyros could actually be related to Cobra, and I decided to do some digging!

The first thing I found, is that Kyros’ name, could possibly derived from the Greek Word Kouros, which were Free-standing sculptures in Ancient Greece, but also, the word itself means “youth, boy, especially of noble rank.”

This got me thinking, that if Kyros name itself is derived from a word that means a person of Noble rank that what other features does he have that could possibly connect him to Nobility. So I went back to Cobra, and decided since Alabasta was obviously modeled after Ancient Egypt I would look into Egyptian Nobility, and thats when I the second similarity between Kyros and Cobra became apparent, and that would be their beards….. The both have beards that resemble The Ancient Egyptian Royalty.

From there I looked up the symbolism of what having a beard ment, back in Ancient Egyptian times…

The type of Beard Kyros has, bares a strong resemblance to the “fake beards” of Nobility of Ancient Egypt….The same time period that the Alabasta Arc is based off of! It should also be noted that Kyros, could be a play on words for the capital of Egypt “Cairo”

Now there is one final piece of evidence that supports Kyros could be of “Royal Blood” and that is the fact that Kyros’ entire story of being a toy, is based off of “The Nutcracker Prince” That is right! The inspiration of Kyros story, is based off of a story about a Prince who got turned into a toy….

Kyros as the Thunder Solider

Everything about Kryos’ character hints towards him being royalty…….His Toy Soldier inspiration, his name, his facial features that resemble that of King Cobra…. King Rikus actions on how he treats Kyros……

So lets get on with piecing the theory together shall we!

I believe King Riku knew the father of King Cobra and Prince Kyros. Over the many years that the two of them were King, they had attended The Reverie and grew rather close. During that time period, I believe Cobra and Kyros’ father brought them to the Reverie one year, and Cobra and Kyros met King Riku. This is how King Riku recognized Kyros’ name when he had heard about a murderer in the slums, and why he chose to go there himself….

Kyros was introduced at the age of 15 years old in a flashback, and I did the calculations, and since The Reverie happens every 4 years, it would have happened one year before Kyros’ 15th Birthday….The year before Kyros killed the people who killed his friend…

I believe after The Reverie happened when Kyros was 14, an illness befell the King of Alabasta, and the King himself wanted both his sons to rule the Kingdom. I believe Kyros chose to leave the Kingdom instead and find his own path in life, leaving Alabasta in the hands of his older brother Cobra….

But what makes me believe this? Well it has to do with my One Piece Final Fantasy connection thread…..Now I could be off on this one, but I feel like it supports this theory, so I will mention it here…

In Final Fantasy 6 there was a Desert Kingdom by the name of Figaros…..When Edgar and Sabin (Two twin brothers) were 17, the King of Figaros was poisoned, and as his dying wish wanted for his two sons to rule the Kingdom together…Sabin however was upset at the fact that everyone was more concerned over the succession of the throne, rather than the death of his father, that he opted to leave the Country to follow his own path, and have his brother be the sole ruler over the Kingdom….

Another connection I made, is the fact that Edgar and Sabin didn’t speak to eachother for 10 years after Sabin left his Kingdom…..This coincides with Kyros being turned into a toy for 10 years, where he would have been forgotten by his brother, due to the fact that he was a toy….

I believe Kyros and Cobra represent Edgar and Sabin, and that Kyros is in fact, Cobra’s brother, and heir to the throne of Alabasta…

If this was the case, then that means Rebecca, who is the heir to the throne of Dressrosa, will actually be a “True Heir” to the throne, because she will be a direct descendant of one of the 20 Ancient Kingdoms….

This also allows for Kyros to join the Straw Hats, as it gives him a “Dream/Goal” to work towards…..Remember it’s been 10 long years since he was forgotten, and before then, he probably kept in touch with his brother over the years…..But ever since being forgotten, he would want to first hand be reunited with his family, much like how Brook wants to be reunited with Laboon….

So there you have it! Do you believe Kyros is the brother of Cobra? Or at least related to him? Or do you want some of what I am smoking?
